The Hip Hop world was shocked to learn of Rhymesayers emcee and freestyle rap legend Michael “Eyedea” Larson suddenly passed away this past October 16 at the age of 28. Now, an autopsy report reveals that Eyedea’s death was caused by an accidental overdose on an unidentified substance.
Although the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office has revealed little information about his death, they did confirm that Larson’s untimely passing came as a result of an accidental opiate toxicity. Larson’s mother Kathy Averill has stated that her son did not show any signs of drug addiction.
Eyedea’s death has sent shock waves throughout the Hip Hop community. On October 28, more than 2,000 fans converged on the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown St. Paul, MN for a public memorial service. Last week, DX reported friends, family members and his Hip Hop peers – including Slug from Atmosphere and Aesop Rock – were in attendance for “The Celebration of the Life of Michael “Eyedea” Larsen” memorial service.

It’s probably Heroin, as it’s pretty damn hard to OD on anything else by yourself in your room without going crazy and breaking the walls.
I mean, I do weed and did quite a bit of speed and X back in my younger days, but always in moderation… heroin, cocaine, crack and meth aren’t to fucked with.
This is extremely sad, losing someone as talented as Eyedea to some bullshit like this…RIP.

eyedea was a dope freestyler but lets get real the kid was a junk bomb. he shot a hot load and it killed him. they not gonna say heroin because its probably embarassing to his family. whether u snortin or shootin it, its gonna fuck u up. suicide, OD, or sober livin. thats it. RIP to the kid but i got junkies in my family you gotta keep movin.

OOh that Copywrite dude was so way off—I agree with the folks above-you gotta keep it real when it comes to these things because the only good that can come is for other kids to see the results-the actual real-talk results. The family will always have their loving memories without hiding the truth.I deal with addiction of opiates and its a daily battle, but part of what helps me stay clean is the constant reminder of what is still waiting for me out there-not the hidden justifications I lived with using.May he rest in peace, I feel for his peeps but they could have reacted better than to ask a public music figure to be given privacy–if it was T.I or Eminem-there would be media camped out on the lawn amd questioning the parents while they were getting gas. Its all pert of the game,I thought it was wild how they really gave it to that dude for making a song expressing a heart-felt sentiment and mentioning what was obviously a well-known issue to those on that curcuit–RIP to the kid but the freeedom for us still here is in sharing.

I’m from St. Paul, and whenever I saw Mikey out, he always looked disheveled, and was trying to get someone to buy him a beer or give him a cigarette. There’s a reason why he didn’t blow up the way he could have; being a hard-core addict. It is so sad. People should know the truth to help younger generations understand the reality of messing with drugs.

I knew that eyedea was a heroin addict from the moment I discovered his music. Only because I myself Am and always ill be A heroin addict…. For the time being I’m not using, But when your A hardcore dope fiend like me that can change in the blink of an eye. one bad decision away from going on A long fucked up run……
