In the wake of yet another deadly, studio shooting in Atlanta, local artists speak out.
This week, the music community in Atlanta was rocked by yet another deadly shooting at a recording studio. As part of a segment that aired last night (April 21) on Fox 5 News, studio owner and former D4L member, Mook B stressed that guns need to be left at the door when an artist enters the studio.
He revealed that in regards to his own studio, he’s adopted a no smoking, no guns, no negativity policy.
“You hear that and you just have so much [sympathy] cause you just so tired of hearing that…Once you stop the guns at the door, you kill the shooting,” Mook B said. “It only gets [to that level if] people allow it to get to that level. Somebody gotta put they [foot] down.”
Another musician, Miltown Bloe spoke on how close to home the studio shooting could have been.
“It could have been one of us” he said. “It could have been someone real close to me. Anything that gets you out of your artistry, you don’t need to be around.”
Earlier this week, a shooting at a recording studio in Southwest Atlanta left two people dead. Several weeks ago, rapper Bankroll Fresh was killed in a shooting at Street Execs Studio.

Exactly! Why is this such a difficult concept to grasp? This is what you promote in your “music” and then act surprised when it actually transpires? When you have to tell an act “Hey guys, no guns in the studio!” there’s something extremely wrong with that picture. Let’s be honest, nobody’s forcing these “rappers” to promote guns and violence in their music, they enjoy it. And for that reason, it makes it hard for me to sympathize
