André 3000 has revealed that he wanted his verse taken off Kanye West‘s “Life of the Party,” but is happy that Drake ended up leaking it.
Speaking on The New York Times’ Popcast, 3 Stacks discussed how the song was not originally included on Donda due to Ye not wanting to release music with explicit language at the time.

“Kanye was at a point in his life where he didn’t want any curse words on the album and I said, ‘Yeah, I’m cool with it, man. I’m totally fine with no curse words. But take me off the song.’ Because I’d written it a certain way. I was cool with beeped versions but I said, ‘You have to put the dirty version out, too,'” he explained.
“At that point, he didn’t want to put a dirty version out. He said, ‘I told my daughter that I would not have any curse words on this album.’ And I was like, ‘Hey man, say no more. The kids, for sure. So just take me off.’ And we weren’t in agreeance with how the song would come out.”

The OutKast legend also addressed Kanye dissing Drake on “Life of the Party,” which he revealed he was aware of before the song came out.
“I want to clear something up: a lot of people think that Kanye took the song and put the diss part out without me knowing about it. I’d heard the diss part and me and Kanye had a conversation about it,” he said.

“I had my feelings about it. I was like, ‘Man, do you really want to do this on this type of song? It’s kinda like going and shooting up your mom’s funeral.'”
Before “Life of the Party” was placed on a revised version of Donda, the song was leaked by Drake on his SiriusXM radio show during his feud with Kanye.
André added that he had no idea how Drake got ahold of the track but had no problem with it coming out that way: “I was like, ‘Woah!’ I actually don’t understand why he did it […] I kind of have to thank Drake for letting that song see the light of day.”
André 3000 previously released a statement after “Life of the Party” leaked, explaining how the song came about.
“A few weeks ago Kanye reached out about me being a part of the Donda album,” he wrote. “I was inspired by his idea to make a musical tribute to his mom. It felt appropriate to me to support the Donda concept by referencing my own mother, who passed away in 2013. We both share that loss.
“I thought it was a beautiful choice to make a clean album but, unfortunately, I didn’t know that was the plan before I wrote and recorded my verse. It was clear to me that an edited ‘clean’ format of the verse would not work without having the raw, original also available.”
He continued: “It’s unfortunate that it was released in this way this way and two artists that I love are going back and forth. I wanted to be on Certified Lover Boy too.

“I just want to work people that inspire me. Hopefully I can work with Kendrick on his album. I’d love to work with Lil Baby, Tyler [The Creator] and JAY-Z. I respect them all.”
