6ix9ine has paid tribute to the late XXXTENTACION during his most recent concert in Romania, taking an uncharacteristically serious tone when discussing his fallen friend.
The tribute took place during Romania’s Beach Please festival on Saturday (April 29). About midway through the show, he paused to ask the audience to show some respect to XXXTENTACION, who was shot and killed in Deerfield Beach, FL, in 2018. He was just 20 years old. The assailants got away with $50,000 in cash in a Louis Vuitton bag that XXX had just withdrawn.

“One of my friends died back in 2018. And at all my shows, I wanna keep his name alive,” he said. “Do you guys know XXXTENTACION? Before he died, he messaged me and said, ‘don’t let your guard down and be safe and I love you.’”
Check out the concert below.
On April 6, XXXTENTACION‘s murderers — Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome — were sentenced to life in prison without a chance for parole.
The three men convicted of murdering the rapper (real name Jahseh Onfroy) appeared in a Broward County, Florida courtroom, where Judge Michael Usan handed down life sentences, which are mandatory in the state, per NBC Miami.
Prosecutors had not sought the death penalty, however, the three men will have no chance for parole or early release for good behavior.
As for 6ix9ine, he’s been riding a recent wave of success with his “Y Ahora” video, which dropped on Friday (April 28).
The regional Mexican-inspired record — which follows 6ix9ine’s most recent Latin-inspired song, “WAPAE” — shows off a softer side to the Brooklyn native.
The video shows the rapper and Gupao Firme’s Eduin Cazares on a drive before an accident occurs. Through Cazares’ assistance, he was able to restore his life by singing a few notes.

Then he seems to be transported into a dream-like state surrounded by the band in the bar and some beautiful women.
“Today, I woke up reminding myself/ Of your sweethearts, of all the kisses,” 6ix9ine sings in the English translation. “I feel lonely and empty/ Nothing stays the same because you’re not here.”
A soft harmony is then created by the rapper and Eduin Cazares, adding the perfect touch to the chorus: “And now what do I do? And forgetfulness for when?/ If I need you, why don’t you come over for a while?/ And now I take double care so that he doesn’t leave me/ The broken heart, if I had it whole before.”
