6ix9ine has spoken out following his arrest in the Dominican Republic earlier this month, telling fans that he’s in good spirits despite the legal ordeal.
The Brooklyn rapper (real name Daniel Hernandez) was arrested last Friday (October 13) for allegedly assaulting two men over an incident involving his girlfriend.

Footage that surfaced online allegedly showed 6ix9ine and his crew pulling to a producer’s home in the D.R. before fleeing the scene minutes later.
The alleged altercation itself wasn’t captured on camera, but police issued a warrant for the rapper’s arrest for “blows and injuries, and threats.”

According to criminal lawyer Felix Portes, the “GUMMO” hitmaker was attempting to board a private jet to flee the country when authorities stopped the plane.
After brief uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts, he was eventually taken into police custody, with footage of his arrest and a photo of his mugshot making the rounds online.

6ix9ine broke his silence regarding his arrest on Wednesday (October 18), posting a message written in Spanish on his Instagram Stories.
Translated into English, the message reads: “First I want to thank God that I am in good health and well cared for, and thank you to everyone who has me in prayer.

“Thank you for your support, I love you very much. I feel so happy seeing you in full support. The same day I get out of jail, I want to give them a little gift for the neighborhood of Vega.”
It continues: “I’m going to give you a free concert in Vega with Romo and everything [will be] for free. Thank you for your support. I’ll give it back. I love you.”
The assault arrest isn’t 6ix9ine’s first run-in with the law this year. In August, the 27-year-old was cuffed by police in Palm Beach County, Florida after failing to appear in court.
The arrest stemmed from three traffic tickets that the rapper had received two months earlier after he was pulled over by police for driving over the speed limit.

Authorities claim he was doing 135 mph in a 65 mph zone on the Florida Turnpike. He was also issued citations for having an unregistered vehicle and no car insurance.
Jail records showed that 6ix9ine was in police custody for roughly three hours before being released on a $2,000 bond.
The rainbow-haired rapper remains a divisive figure in Hip Hop, as his continued musical output shows. This past summer, he teamed up with Kodak Black on the track “Shaka Laka,” and the collaboration alone resulted in the Sniper Gang boss catching heat from his peers — most notably Boosie Badazz.
