6ix9ine has been warned by Puerto Rican police not to travel to the country due to numerous threats against his life, even though he’s set to perform later this week.

The controversial rapper is scheduled to take the stage at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico as part of the Youth Awards on Thursday (July 20), which is hosted by the Univisión network.

Per local outlet Elvocero, Police Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa has reportedly asked Univisión to remove 6ix9ine from the bill due to alleged threats against the “FEFE” rapper.

It was actually the Univisión network that alerted police to the alleged threats against the life of 6ix9ine, and while the local authorities couldn’t confirm the legitimacy of any complaints, they said they could not do enough to protect the rapper nor prevent him from traveling to Puerto Rico.

A security plan will be reportedly implemented to the best of their abilities.

6ix9ine has a presentation scheduled for Thursday with Yailin “La Más Viral,” and he has yet to respond to the reports, but he did previously promote the presentation on his Instagram on Tuesday (July 18).

The threats against 6ix9ine are perhaps no surprise considering his reputation as a “snitch,” stemming from his decision to cooperate with the federal government’s case against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang back in 2019.

He was even attacked by a group of men at an LA Fitness in Florida earlier this year. Three men — Rafael Medina Jr., 43; Octavious Medina, 23; and Anthony Maldonado, 25 — were arrested on assault and robbery charges over the beating, which was caught on camera.

“For me, it was tough to watch because it was so unexpected. It’s cowardly,” 6ix9ine later < a class="underline-link" href="https://hiphopdx.com/news/6ix9ine-denies-gym-attack-staged-interview">said in an interview with NBC 6 South Florida. “When I look at it, I just see hate, right? Imagine being someone who doesn’t know someone from a hole in the wall.

“I’ll give you an example: today is the first day that I meet you, I don’t know you from anywhere, I could have heard something about you that I may have an opinion on, but I don’t know you to hate you.”

He added: “Does that give me the right to attack you? To ambush you? I think it was cowardly. I think it was opportunistic, but again I’m not mad because I know in the streets there are no rules. I’m at a loss for words because they saw an opportunity and they took it.”

6ix9ine could also potentially run into trouble in Puerto Rico considering comments he made about disavowing his Puerto Rican heritage. (He is half Puerto Rican and half Mexican.)

The 27-year-old was stopped for a quick conversation while drunk at the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals game between Mexico and Puerto Rico back in March, and said he’d only be waving the Mexican flag due to his Puerto Rican father abandoning him at a young age.

“My dad abandoned me,” he said. [He’s] Puerto Rican!”

When asked where his dad is now, he replied: “I don’t care. I don’t care. My mom raised me Mexican…. My mom raised me Mexican, an immigrant. I love my mom with all my heart. She played the role of mother and father for me.”
