50 Cent has called for an end to gun violence in Chicago after a recent spate of shootings in the city.
Taking to Instagram on Monday (May 6), 50 posted a screenshot of a news headline which read: “At least 31 people have been shot, six fatally, in gun violence across Chicago so far this weekend, police said.”
The G-Unit boss then offered his opinion on the tragic news, commenting: “Come on now, this gotta stop, this ain’t gangster, this is just crazy.”
According to ABC 7 Chicago, the number of deaths stemming from shootings this past weekend has since risen to seven.
This is not the first time that 50 Cent has weighed in on political issues in recent weeks having criticized President Joe Biden’s tax plans.
Biden proposed raising capital gains rates by 44.6% for those with a taxable income north of $1 million and investment earnings over $400,000.
50 did not take kindly to the proposal, sharing a report that stated: “This would be the highest capital gains tax rate in over a century in the United States, and is part of Biden’s plan to equalize the taxation of investment income and wage income.”
He then commented: “COME ON NOW JOE, THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE THIS IS NOT IT!”
The “Many Men” rapper is, of course, no stranger to gun violence himself having been famously shot nine times in 2000 and living to tell tale.
While reflecting on the gruesome attack and his road to recovery in a 2014 interview with Hot 97, he said: “After the actual shooting, I went through a portion of me actually being afraid because I was hurt physically. I was hurt bad.
“I was afraid and uncomfortable with being afraid, and the only time I wasn’t afraid is when I was actively involved in actually looking for somebody connected to it.”
look at you pathetic trash people and your trash heroes. probably listening to kendrick as they shoot their cousins. isn’t chicago where everyone in the hood is a ceo? you get what you deserve cheerleading scum like 50 and Kendrick
Shut yo bitch ass up yo punk azz probably white
Lotta money flashed in videos from Chicago artists could be put back into Chicago for a march, concert and or movement but moving away from the violence you rhyme about means you just might not have anything to rhyme about when it goes away.
False, 50. Murder, drug dealing… GANGS… are “gangsta”. Wtf do these people think “gangsta” means? A fashion statement and nothing else? I agree the violence is a joke. It’s why so many want to get out of so many cities. With that said, the only way to begin making a dent in the violence is to start at the bottom. Extremely stiff penalties for petty crimes. No bail. Things don’t just start with murder. Starts with drugs or other illicit business, theft, vandalism, harassment, and so on. Those more petty crimes lead up to murder.
