In the latest installment of Hot 97’s “97 seconds,” Hip Hop mogul 50 Cent opens up about a variety of defining moments in his career.

The Queens, New York rapper sheds light on how he felt emotionally after he was shot nine times in 2000 and how he was able to recover both mentally and professionally.

“In May 2000, I got shot, so I was dropped from Columbia Records,” he says within the introspective interview. “Then I came back and the next deal was done in 2002 with Eminem and Dr. Dre.”

After the incident, Fif explained how he felt uneasy and frightened at times.

“After the actual shooting, I went through a portion of me actually being afraid because I was hurt physically,” he says. “I was hurt bad. I was afraid and uncomfortable with being afraid and the only time I wasn’t afraid is when I was actively involved in actually looking for somebody connected to it.”
