2 Chainz Says The Reaction To Raekwon’s Comment At His NYC Show Was Blown Out Of Proportion

Days after Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz performed in front of a sold-out crowd at famed New York City music venue S.O.B.’s, the rapper linked up with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to speak on his New York City debut.

The first topic to be brought up in regards to 2 Chainz’ show was Raekwon’s “pay homage to me son” comment. When asked about Raekwon’s comment, which followed 2 Chainz’ set, the rapper explained that the comment was blown way out of proportion and revealed that he’s had a good relationship with Raekwon for years.

“The reason I didn’t catch it or feel offended is because me and Raekwon really have a great relationship,” 2 Chainz explained. “Going back six or seven years ago. Just cool and not even music. My birthday party in Atlanta, Rae and Cappadonna came to my birthday party. They came to the studio. We got right, went to that together. And so I think cause we’re in New York some people in New York look for negative things. Sometimes they try to look into it and break it down when I knew he was honestly, genuinely saying he was proud of me, where I came from. We’ve had conversations about Method Man, Luda, just everything, just Hip Hop. So when he came out there I felt like he was just congratulating me on where I came from.”

2 Chainz also spoke on performing in New York City for the first time and seeing people from different demographics rocking out to his music.

“The S.O.B.’s event was definitely sold out. It was groundbreaking for an artist like myself. Straight from Atlanta, College Park, coming from where I came from it was definitely a good look….When I looked at it and when I broke it down New York is really the home for critiquing. It’s the Hip Hop Mecca,” said 2 Chainz. “It’s the capitol of Hip Hop so for dudes in New York, especially with different demographics, to actually rock with your music especially coming from the South that’s sort of like a big deal. I told people we gonna get the ladies they gonna come anyway you feel me? But for me to bring the dudes out, I’m talking about Hispanic, white, black, all the brothers coming together for this real campaign it felt good.”

    5. Who does Rae think he is, Michael Corrileone? Nobody owes you homage, especially when you haven’t done anything relevant in years.

      1. Um, he released Cuban Linx 2 in 09, was pretty much featured on a lot of people’s albums during that time, released a great album with Shaolin vs Wu-Tang last year, touring constantly and his new mixtape came out last month. And here you are mentioning him, so yes, he is very relevant.

Making a point about someone isn’t paying homage to them, plus those amazing albums you cited flopped and have already been forgotten.
