As the mind behind the Air Yeezys and an upcoming adidas collection, Kanye West’s impact on the world of trends was recently detailed by HipHopWired as part of their “10 Trends You Can Blame On Kanye West” list.
The publication kicked off their trends list with the leather jogging pants the Chicago rapper spoke on during an interview with Zane Lowe in 2013.
“We brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi, and they said, ‘No.’ How many motherfuckers you done seen with a jogging pant,” Kanye said.
Also mentioned on the list, Maison Martin Margiela. The article states: “West was repping hard for the Belgian designer before A$AP Rocky, Jadakiss, Wiz Khalifa and others began dropping his name. Maybe that’s why Margiela designed those bejeweled masks Kanye wears on tour.”’
Not limited to merely listing fashion trends, HipHopWired’s list also included model and Kanye’s former girlfriend of two years, Amber Rose. Rose is said to have been the inspiration behind Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.
Other trends on the list included shutter shades and “Paul McCartney in urban music again.”
