Freddie Gibbs Says He’s The Most Versatile Rapper Out, Talks Young Jeezy Inspiration

During an interview with Miss Special, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs spoke briefly on Young Jeezy and what inspiration he’s taken from the rapper. Gibbs went on to explain that Jeezy’s ability to turn skeptics into believers is what inspires him the most.

“When Jeezy first hit the scene a lot people really didn’t understand it, but it’s like he made them understand and that right there is motivation for me to do what I gotta do…He motivated thing so I’m tryna do what I gotta do,” Gibbs explained.

Gibbs also spoke on his recently released Cold Day In Hell mixtape and being “the most versatile rapper in the game” in his opinion.

“I just dropped it when I was ready, that’s what I believe in. I don’t believe in deadlines or dates. I literally was like recording up until the last minute,” said Gibbs. “Probably like two or three days…I think I’m the most versatile rapper in the game. People see it like the guys I do songs with. I can do songs with just about anybody and we can make something work.”

Lastly, Gibbs revealed his plans on either hopping on the remix to Random Axe’s “Chewbacca” or working on a separate project with the rappers.

“I’m gonna do it. I just been on the road. I just got off the road with Jeezy. I been tryna plant my flag down everywhere. Milk my nigga though. Milk, Guilty…so when we get around to it we gonna do that shit or do something fresh,” the rapper explained. “Whatever happens first, but I definitely fuck with them. Shout out to Hex.

      1. NIGGAZ ALWAYZ HATE BUT THEY KNOW THAT WWEEZY IS THE BEST. LOOK AT HIS TEAM HE GOT NOW.DRAKE,NICKI,TYGA,BUSTA,SHYNE,DJ KHALED,MYSTIKAL,JAE MILLZ,LIL TWIST,GUDDA GUDDA,CORY GUNZ,BOW WOW,BABY,MACK MAINE. THEY JUST WAY TOO DEEP NIGGA.

      2. Sorry to tell you but Busta, Drake, Jae Millz and maybe Cory Gunz are the only ones good on YM. The rest of the list is complete shit.

      3. all of those shitty rappers could actually rub off and make busta rhymes actually suck if he’s not careful. Must be broke. Damn man jigga would have hooked it up better.

      1. wtf? freddie gibbs and trash doesnt fit in the same sentence lol freddie gibbs is a beast and wud prollly murk ur favorite rapper on an off day…

    1. actually, since I listen to Gibbs on the Cults remix, he jumps on other genres and raps whether they are conscious rappers or trapstars or up and coming or vets, no matter what region. he does it all, fast or slow. He gets played in the clubs and also he performs in shows like the Pitchfork festival, which shows he got diverse fans.

Search Joker’s song The Vision ft. Freddie Gibbs, he goes in on a total Grimey UK producers beat. then listen to him on that Cult’s Remix of Band Things. Amazing, just to see what he can do.

i don’t like saying someone is The Best, or rank rappers in lists. but Gibbs is definitely up there as one of the most polished emcees out there now. this site already had a dope article about how Freddie Gibbs. too bad he is not on TM103,

    2. Actually gibs is versatile but i would have to say wale is the MOST versatile rapper out now. from bmf beats to girl records to introspective records to club records to techno club record to rock inspired records . now thats work

    3. this comin from the guy that talked shit about big sean for bein too versatile and having no personality in his music lol i respect freddie hes a genius on the mic but in person he says some hypocritical shit

    4. He wasn’t saying Big Sean was to versaitle, he was saying WHAT THE FUCK KINDA OF RAPPER IS HE?

and he was right, him and Wale are both like in no mans land in terms of rapping styles, i don’t even know what kinda of rapper they them selves want to be.

Reagrdless, the guy is an amazing MC but he sounds like a complete moron when ever he doesn an interview, the less we from this guy the better, it’s shit like that makes people not take you serious and you lose credibilty.

    5. Don’t know whether he’s the most versatile or not but he’s probably the best rapper that’s come out since the 90’s. Doesn’t have a gay flow, covers different subject matter, stays on beat etc

    6. Freddie gibbs one of the only new rappers I have any respect for….. I respect that Yelawolf kid too but I’m just not feelin his music as much, But Gibbs gets the cosign for sure because he always says what on his mind and dont go run and apologize everytime he gets called out like the rest of these new jacks

Cold Day In Hell is a banger by the way, check that out if you havent, closest thing to old school southern gangsta rap your gonna get nowadays, if you like old school Scarface or Eightball & MJG, you gotta be feelin Gibbs
