J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only album isn’t even 24 hours old and, as expected, fans have already placed it in the Top 10 rap albums — of all time. Wait, what?
J. Cole fans have been called a lot of things, and while music is a subjective entity and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, jumping completely out of the window with proclamations of greatness never helped anyone to be taken seriously.
Case in point: these reactions to the 4 Your Eyez Only from J. Cole fans, many of which were formed before people had given the album a complete spin. [Editor’s Note: I saw the same thing happen with Tha Carter III and we all know how that album has held up.]
Tridash
Ordinary. Don’t believe the hype.
delusional fucks. j cole sucks.
you crazy
Solid 4.5 after 4 complete spins. I see the Drake and young thug stans are hating in the comment section lol And PS Cole ain’t my favorite rapper. Pusha T, Kendrick, Ab-Soul are.
Been listening to hip hop since the 80’s. I’m qualified. Everything dropping right now is 100% ass, including J.Cole and Kendra Lamar.
You’ve been listening to hiphop from 80s? How old are you? 50? And you still be a hater fuckin around the internet???? Good life sir.
lmfao!!!!!
J. Cole I can understand, but Kendrick too? Damn, I don’t understand these standards people have for good rap anymore. You swear like the old rappers are pure gods and can’t be touched. At least Kendrick tries new shit and tells stories that people relate to.
I expect this album to be good but damn these stans on twitter are tripping. j cole is great but he got too many stans for fans
New lyrics same song great album but not top nothing
How many people were claiming kendricks black power album was the new illmatic cole rapped more in this album then kendrick on his last.
Why are you trying to divide them bruh? Just be happy we have them in hip hop and hope for that supposed joint album.
Lol “black power album”. TPAB is a genuine masterpiece.
my bad i meant black lives matter album it was more beats then him really spitting im not disappointed with this album cole sounds as good as he ever did people assumed he was gonna come out looking for heads after the disstrack dropped its not a classic but its really good work.
i cant agree that album was not a classic
He sounds the same on every song
I literally like only 3 songs this dude had ever done (“False Prophets” & “Everybody Gotta Die”) are two of them but, they weren’t on this new album & that left me scratching my head. Anyway, since I liked those 2 songs so much, I was willing to listen to this new album. And, bruh…that shit is the most boring, sleep enducing elevator rap I’ve EVER heard in my life! It looks like his stans are morphing into the delusional dickriders Kanye has like pointed out in “False Prophets”.
I fuck with this site because you all hate on everyone equally but usually with good reason. I listened to this shit 4 f*ckin times trying to be opened minded. I have over 80 cds from the 90s alone and I’m coles age so don’t classify me as being 15 or being white. This shit is dumpster juice
“dumpster juice”. I like that! LOL I’m probably the 2nd oldest person commenting b/c I remember late ’80s & all ’90s rap precisely so, I’m not some teenage, “Lil/Young” whatever fan either and, ppl should have the right to say if shit’s wack as fuck, or not. And, this shit is pretty bad. It actually reminded me why I don’t fuck w/ Cole to begin w/. His music is boring as fuck w/ grade school lyrics. I heard “2014 Forest Hills Drive” 2x just to hear what all the fuss was about and, I thought that shit was boring & mediocre. Well… “4YourEyezOnly” is WORSE! I didn’t even bother listening to it twice cuz my instincts are usually right the first time and, I sure as shit won’t go digging up “Born Sinner” & his debut album either.
“IN EVERY WORD OF HATE THERE’S A BLESSING TO TAKE, N THE STRENGTH THAT WE ALL NEED TO SUCEED… KEEP TALKIN”!!!
You say “don’t classify me as white” but your name is Azeliabanks WhiteBF.
This album was a solid, B-grade album. It entertains you just enough but doesn’t really blow you away or grab you. The replay value is low on this outing. Leave it to the internet to over-sensationalize everything/anything.
The hype train was real for this one. Avid cole listener, and I totally understand writing from another individuals perspective. But there was not one line or track on the album that made me say, “what he say, let me run that back”. People pretend to be “down” so bad they lose their damn mind…
I thought it was a solid 8. There’s some genuinely good tracks on their, and pretty much none of them are really bad. It’s similar to The Life of Pablo, nothing game changing or revolutionary, but a good listen nonetheless. Sure some of these people are just being ridiculous, but some are just praising how good the album sounds in the beginning, which it really does. The first few songs are really good. I think this may be a bit harsh.
Has anyone ever noticed people do this every time J Cole drops? They call it a classic and the best album in decades and blah blah, then 2 weeks later, no one is talking about it anymore. lol Hiphop is in such a poor state people hype up every average release as “classic”.
Wth are you talking about?? FHD dropped and we all know it was dope and gave props. Then he went on tour and got praised for that. Then he started trending recently for the platinum no features thing. He’s never went away. STOP THE BLIND HATE!!
Cole is dope no doubt, time will tell on the new album…but sounds like HHDX is kinda hatin’
Solid album. Forest Hills Drive is still my favorite because it had perfect timing. This one had a few bangaz: Immortal, Dejavu, and the last track.
The album sounded a bit dated. He should have released in February 2017, so the timing would have aligned with current affairs. Regardless, anything from Cole is 10x better than his current competition. And no diss to the current rappers. They make hyped music too, but Cole is more of an artist so he has the highest standards.
Solid Album
Stop it ! This album is not a classic hip hop album. It’s a good album for commercial pop Radio rap and that is it. The beats are below average with that dumb sound all the pop cats use. He has 2 good R & B jams on it. Beats, Rhyme, hooks, subject matter flow, sampling all go into a classic record. He can rap and has a dope voice but it ends there.
