2 Chainz Discovers Late Father’s Hidden Money Stash

2 Chainz has discovered a lost stash of cash stowed away by his later father, and it was stored away in a very unusual spot.

The Atlanta native was in the midst of getting a busted pipe serviced in his basement when the plumber noticed a gift bag full of dollar bills. Tity Boi hopped on his Instagram Story to show the wads of cash to his fans, with a family member in the background telling him the money was likely collected before 2 Chainz was even born.

“Quick story,” he said in the video. “I had a busted pipe in the basement. They fixed my basement and they found…I guess this is my pop’s old stash of cash.”

The “Duffle Bag Boy” rapper could be seen rifling through the stash of tightly-rolled bills while writing in his caption: “RIP POPS.”

2 Chainz’s father passed away in 2012 as his rap career started to take off. Last year, Tity Boi spoke about his daddy’s hustler mentality and how it inspired his own business-savvy mindset.

“My daddy sold bricks and he sold weed,” he told XXL. “My mama’s mama, she was a bootleg lady. My mama was into real estate when I was young. My daddy never had a job.

“I never remember him getting up early. I never remember him complaining about being in traffic from coming home late from work. I don’t remember none of that. I remember Cadillacs and I remember my uncle having plenty of jewelry.”

Last June, 2 Chainz reflected on the 10th anniversary of his father’s death on Instagram Live, admitting it still affects him to this day.

“My dad died ten years ago today,” he said. “Still be thinking about him too. You know if you lost a parent that shit don’t never get old. You go big, though.”

The 44-year-old rapper is a father himself and last year started a podcast with his six-year-old son Halo Epps called Me & Halo, which hears them “discuss all things ranging from sports, news, life updates and course the lovely lady in our lives.”

On the music side, 2 Chainz is currently prepping a new project with Lil Wayne that will serve as the sequel to their 2016 collaboration ColleGrove. In an interview with Akademiks last year, he explained how this next installment will differ from the first.

“[Lil Wayne’s] on every single song. I think the last time we were in the studio together maybe twice. This time, we’ve been in the studio together multiple times working on this project,” he said.

“I feel super excited about this fucking project because it don’t sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And doing something like that with Wayne, it’s welcoming, it’s warming and it’s going to be accepted.”

The Drench God has also been teasing a full-length collaboration with producer Statik Selektah for some time, and revealed on Drink Champs last March that it was in the process of being mixed. A release date, however, remains elusive.

      1. VERY simple google search proves you are a moron. new $5 came out in 2008, and his dad died in 2012. but hey 3 people liked your comment. In 2006, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing started redesigning the $5 bill, and the new version started being used in 2008. In the old $5 bill, Lincoln’s head was in an oval, and not much of his shoulders could be seen. The changes were minor, but they made it harder for anyone to make fake money…. INTERNET IS HARD!!

      2. Obviously you didn’t read it either it clearly states someone in the family said it was probably saved before 2 chains was born hence why could there be new $5 bills? Chains is almost 0 make it make sense

    2. It sounds like the relative who said “When he did this, this was before you were born.” was talking to a child. You can hear the child in the background, too.

Whoever wrote this article is dumb. 2 Chainz is 40 and there are newer bills in there. How could this…you know what? It’s fine.
