Lil Wayne’s latest album Tha Carter IV has been certified double platinum after three months in stores (via HHNM).
The RIAA certified the album, which neared a million copies sold in its first week, on November 16th. Though the LP has shipped more than two-million units, TC4 has only actually sold 1,700,000 copies.
Tha Carter IV, released on August 29, 2011, features guest appearances from Drake, Tech N9ne, Cory Gunz, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and more, and has also spawned the singles “6 Foot 7 Foot,” 
“She Will” and “How to Love.”

This is what I don’t understand. Why are they giving it the double platinum certification if the sales have not yet crossed the 2 million mark? So practically any artist can have a million copies of their album shipped to stores in the first week and the RIAA can still certify it platinum even though it may have sold only 150k the first week. Just give it the certification when the sales actually cross that amount, otherwise it’s not a true double platinum album.

I just wish you people and other people would stop judging talent and good music by how much each artist is making. Before our time songs sold because they were beautiful and wonderful songs. Now a days for whatever reason people only want songs to dance to and jokes and punchlines in each song, the beautiful and wonderful songs of today are masked by the oversale of half assed music. They aren’y given a chance as much as others because of how much more complex they are and the amount of hard work that goes into them. Open your eyes people, yea Tha Carter IV went double platinum, sure I think Lil Wayne is a good artist, but also a bad and lazy artists because he gives in to doing a lot of half assed songs that people are willing to listen to because their friends do.
