Boosie Badazz is presumably still basking in the love he got from disgraced comedian Bill Cosby earlier this week. The convicted sex offender, formerly known as beloved father Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show, posted an Instagram post showing his support for My Struggle, Boosie’s new movie. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still more work to do for the Baton Rouge-bred rapper.
Boosie was incensed after it dawned on him people could stream My Struggle online for free. So he took his frustrations to Twitter (lord knows he can’t use Instagram) and brought Martin Luther King, Jr. into it, claiming the late civil rights activist would be upset people are making white people more money.
“MARTIN LUTHER KING would be pissed off right now to see y’all mfs not supporting black excellence and buying my movie but going to YouTube and other websites making the WHITE MAN RICH!” he wrote. “UncleTomAssN-ggas.”
Boosie Badazz released My Struggle on Friday (September 24), a day after 50 Cent held his premiere party for Black Mafia Family. Comedian Lil Duval quickly pointed out the lack of support for Boosie’s film in comparison to Fiddy’s.
“Every celeb you can think of was at BMF premiere,” he wrote in an Instagram post. But at @hesbackagain2021 premiere I only saw @qcmceo_p @troublemmb and @iamdesibanks all I’m saying is we gotta support the streets the same way we support the mainstream stuff. Especially in the south. Cuz they really don’t fuck wit us they just deal wit us. #staywoke.”
Boosie then turned to Drake for help promoting the film and that’s when he says Instagram disabled his account — again. Then Cosby stepped in and offered some assistance, sharing the poster for My Struggle to his Instagram account.
Lil Boosie, I have always appreciated your truth and support,” he wrote in the caption. “What I’m about to say, is not to compensate you because you supported Bill Cosby.
“My publicist, Mr. Andrew Wyatt told me about your film, ‘My Struggle’ and I am encouraging all of my supporters and fans to make this American Citizen, Lil Boosie’s film, ‘My Struggle’ a box office success. Thank you very much. #MyStruggle #BoosieMovie #BillCosby #LilBoosie.”
Directed by Joe Yung Spike, My Struggle is based loosely on Boosie’s life and stars the veteran rapper in the main role.
