After seemingly dissing R. Kelly on CBS This Morning, ex-crisis manager Darrell Johnson clarifies his comments and claims he was not fired from Kelly’s team, but rather left due to personal reasons.
“One of my family members is on their death bed right now and I’m gonna go tend to that,” Johnson told TMZ on Wednesday (July 24). “I would 100 percent leave my daughter… with Mr. Kelly.”
Johnson’s CBS This Morning interview on Monday (July 22) caused some speculation that he had been fired as Kelly’s crisis manager after making comments about not leaving his daughter alone with a pedophile and publicly resigning later that day.
During the interview, Gayle King asked Johnson if he would leave Kelly alone with his 21-year-old daughter, to which he replied, “I would not leave my daughter with anyone that’s accused of being a pedophile. I would not.”
According to TMZ, Johnson is adamant that he was not fired for these comments and that he’s even considering a potential return to the job.
“I believe, at the end of the day, he will be acquitted again,” Johnson said.
Kelly was denied bond on Tuesday (July 16) and deemed “an extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls.”
The disgraced singer now faces a total of 18 counts for alleged crimes against 10 victims.
