Jackson Family Patriarch Joe Jackson Passes Away At 89

Joe Jackson passed away on Wednesday (June 27) in Las Vegas, according to CNN. The Jackson family patriarch had been in a Las Vegas hospital with terminal cancer.

On June 24, a tweet appeared on Jackson’s Twitter account that made it seem as if he was prepared for death. It read: “I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see. The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes.”

But Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter, says Jackson didn’t write the post and believes her grandfather’s platform was being used inappropriately.

“this is a beautiful tweet, though it upsets me to see whoever is in charge of this account taking advantage of it,” she wrote. “my grandfather did not tweet this. i’m not sure if he’s ever used this account.” [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

Although he was known to rule with an iron fist, Jackson launched the careers of The Jackson 5, and was instrumental in carving out Michael and Janet Jackson’s paths to superstardom.

    Jackson was 89.

Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson has reportedly been hospitalized in Las Vegas with terminal cancer. The nearly 90-year-old is in the “end stages” of his disease and isn’t expected to live much longer, according to the Daily Mail.

Jackson has been ill for months but his health has rapidly declined in the past few weeks.

While his wife Katherine and other family members were originally by his side, it’s reported they were temporarily barred from visiting him, although it’s unclear exactly why. After an emergency family meeting and permission from Jackson’s manager Charles Coupet, they were finally allowed to see him on Tuesday (June 19).

One of Jackson’s sons, Jermaine, told the Daily Mail, “No one knew what was going on. We shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this. We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”

“He’s very, very frail, he doesn’t have long,” he added. “The family needs to be by his bedside. That’s our only intention in his final days.”

Jackson, who was the architect and manager of the legendary Jackson 5, also suffers from dementia and has endured strokes, a heart attack and recent car accident.

Over the years, Jackson has been apologetic about the tyrannical way he treated his 11 children, including pop icon Janet Jackson and the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

In 2017, a source close to the family told the Express, “He is truly sorry for the misery he inflicted on some of his kids when they were young. He was trying to drive them to success as their manager. He now bitterly regrets the physical methods he sometimes used to enforce discipline and turn them into the highly polished and professional stars they became.”

On Thursday (June 21), Jermaine clarified that using the word “dying” wasn’t exactly accurate.

“My father’s health is not good, but ‘dying’ is a harsh word chosen by headline writers, not me,” he wrote. “For however long he has left, my mother, siblings, and relatives want to be with him, without hindrance.” [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

    1. No need for being disrespectful towards Joe Jackson, he has apologized for his actions towards his family. Let the man enjoy his final moments with the family

        1. Sorry but not everyone is perfect like you since you seem to imply you never gave an apology to no one. Joe has made peace with his kids, wife, and God and that is all that matters. At the end, he help to bring forth the greatest entertainers (and Mike did not quit the business when he became an adult). He made mistakes like ALL parents do about SOMETHING. Hope Mr. Jackson get better.

        2. because you’ve led a totally righteous life for yourself and have made absolutely no mistakes in your years breathing.

      1. Yeah by destroying his kids childhoods with physical and mental abuse. Look how most of that family turned into fruitcakes.

    2. Most people that are highly skilled at something, focused on doing that one thing for the majority of their adolescence. And a lot of the time, there’s a domineering parent responsible for that…

      1. Teddy Perkins. The episode with anti-white message and racist black man wearing whiteface.

    3. For all of what he was infamous for, at least he acknowledged the talents of his children as their own and ushered in their confidence. Yes, they had some issues and he didn’t contribute much to their spirits off the stage, but how many parents help pull the most out of their children? Joe may have beat the breaks off of them at times but you don’t beat greatness into your children. It was God given and nurtured by Katherine, as well as Joe , like him or not. Bless that family , Janet, come get at me. Leave those rich muthafuckas alone.

      1. Some issues? Come on bro, all those beatings and whatever else definitely ruined them. I don’t hate Joe but I hope that the whole family made peace with him before he died.
