Frank Ocean may have built a reputation as someone who has pushed the boundaries of art and music, but recent allegations point to a theft of someone else’s creative output.
The Blonde artist’s blondedRadio Beats 1 radio show artwork is allegedly plagiarized from Germany-based electronic acts Jesse Osborne-Lanthier and Grischa Lichtenberger. More specifically, the art takes a cue from their Conversation Sur Lettres Mortes project.
Lanthier mentioned the issue in a tweet, writing: “LOL been brought to my att that Frank Ocean ripd-off Grischa Lichtenberger n I’s poster that came with ‘CSLM’ on cosmo rhythmatic last year.”
Ocean has yet to respond.
Over the past few months, Ocean has released a few loosie tracks, including “Biking” featuring Tyler The Creator and Jay Z. He also popped up on A$AP Rocky’s “Please Don’t Touch My Raf” alongside Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert and Quavo.
Despite releasing more material, the newly pink-haired artist has dropped out of three festival performances in the last three months, most recently canceling his Primavera Sound Festival set.
Definitely stolen
Yea it is the same thing …
and more importantly…who cares?
It’s important because in the internet age, where any image can be taken from the web, it allows people to “steal” other peoples work. It doesn’t FEEL like a crime because its so easy to do. But its still stealing yknow? It happens all the time with no recourse.
