Since Frank Ocean dropped Blonde in 2016, fans have been clamoring to see the singer perform the album live. Unfortunately, they’ll be waiting even longer after it has emerged that Ocean has pulled out of the first two dates of his upcoming slate of festival bookings.
Ocean had been scheduled to headline Hangout Music Festival, based in Alabama, on May 19 — but the festival’s official Twitter page announced yesterday that “Due to production delays beyond his control Frank Ocean will be unable to perform. He passes on his apologies & hopes to return to AL soon.”
The festival organizers also announced that Ocean would be replaced by the band Phoenix.
The news follows hot on the heels of Ocean announcing that he wouldn’t be at Sasquatch Festival in Washington, citing “production delays beyond his control.”

Ocean is still scheduled to appear at some other festivals this summer, including Panorama in New York and Lovebox in London in July.
In other Frank Ocean news, the singer is currently in the process of seeking to have a libel claim worth $14.5 million against him — made by his estranged father Calvin Cooksey — thrown out of court, according to TMZ. The libel claims stem from an essay that Ocean wrote about his father’s alleged behavior, including the accusation that Cooksey had used a homophobic slur about a transgender waitress when Ocean was a child.
Ocean’s next scheduled appearance is at the Primavera Festival in Barcelona on May 31, though after these recent cancellations one could forgive fans for being a little bit suspicious.
