Chance The Rapper’s Child Support Case Closed

Chance The Rapper and Kirsten Corley — the mother of his daughter — have reached an agreement that quietly closes their child support case.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that legal representatives for both sides appeared in court today (March 20) to sign off on the agreement, that promises “substantial parenting time for both” parents as they have decided to live separately for the best interest of their daughter, Kensli Bennett.

“Really, that’s the way it should be done,” Corley’s attorney, Enrico Mirabelli said. “And when you settle between yourselves, you leave nothing to chance.” No pun intended.

Chance recently shared that he was considering moving back in with his parents and that having a daughter gave him a renewed sense of appreciation for his mother.

“I think, anybody, if they were in my position — if they were 23 with a kid for the first time and were working — they would find comfort in being able to stay with their parents,” he explained.

Further, regarding the case, the Grammy-winning rapper’s legal representative shared similar sentiments about the cooperation between the couple.

“The parties have reached a full agreement,” Tanya Stanish said. “The case is concluded. I’m going to give major credit to Chance and Kirsten for working together to reach a deal that’s fair for their daughter, fair for them both.”

Earlier this month, The Chicago Sun-Times ran an editorial questioning Chance’s position as a role model with his child support case pending. The Windy City native lashed back and shared images of his small family, showing everything was fine.

He also announced a donation of $1 million to Chicago Public Schools, which was received with much praise.
