Dave Chappelle Clarifies Joke Blaming Media For Twisting Donald Trump’s Words

Dave Chappelle caught some heat after he seemed to excuse Donald Trump for the obscene conversation recorded between the Republican candidate and Billy Bush on Access Hollywood, Friday (November 4) during his New York City late-night comedy gig.

A rep for Chappelle says he’s really not here for either candidate and is repulsed by the election period.

The controversy comes after the announcing that he’d be Saturday Night Lives host for the first time next week. The controvery became even more heigtened once it became widely known that the owner and publisher of The Observer is Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

“Dave is disgusted by the tone of the election and especially by the idea that his comedy would be misconstrued to defend [Donald T]rump,” his rep told Variety. His comedy show blasted both candidates,” the rep said, adding, “By the way, he voted for Hillary [Clinton].”

According to the Observer, his Friday evening show heavily addressed the possibility of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as America’s potential leaders.

“She’s going to be on a coin someday,” Dave Chappelle said according to the Observer. “And her behavior has not been coin-worthy. She’s not right and we all know she’s not right.”

He further expresses distaste for the way the media handled the taped conversation between Billy Bush and Trump, seemingly defending his actions.

“What I heard on that tape was gross,” Chappelle explained. “But the way I got to hear it was even more gross. You know that came directly from Hillary. Sexual assault? It wasn’t. He said, ‘And when you’re a star, they let you do it.’ That phrase implies consent. I just don’t like the way the media twisted that whole thing. Nobody questioned it.”

Expect even more hashtaggable jokes on November 12’s edition of SNL.

    1. in a typical weekend up to 46 people die in Chicago alone from black on black crime, TRY POLICING YOUR OWN PEOPlE!!!!

      1. Now now mister.. I bet the reason behind black on black crime is racism that they have to face 24/7. #KillWhitey

      2. haha, you make a good point but by accident. the regular police aren’t doing anything to help black communities, so yea community policing is probably better than nothing, right?

      3. Most people live in neighborhoods where their neighbors look like them. So that point is weak. Secondly whenever you have an environment fuelled with no jobs and drugs. You will get Chicago or the trailer parks of America. Another question is how are the poor people getting a hold of these weapons.
