Drake’s “Views” Barrels Past One Billion U.S. Streams

Even with the media frenzy for Views having mostly subsided and the critics deeming it to be lackluster, Drake’s latest album continues to be a commercial blockbuster, with its songs now passing one billion steams in the U.S. alone, reports Billboard.

That breaks down roughly to every person in the country listening to “Hotline Bling” three times, or 50 million people listening to the 20-song project once.

Those numbers have helped keep the Toronto Raptors’ most famous fan at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for four straight weeks — the first time a man has done that since Michael Bublé in early 2012.

The album couldn’t be unseated from the top spot by new entries from Ariana Grande and Blake Shelton, who came in at #2 and #3 respectively on the most recent countdown, bumping Beyoncé’s Lemonade into the #4 spot.

Views‘ staggered rollout has been a big factor in keeping the streams rolling in. Initially, the album was exclusively available for streaming on Apple Music, and it still managed to go platinum in its first week. On May 24, HipHopDX reported that the album’s wider release had helped it pass half a billion streams since its April 29 release, and now, just 10 days later, it has doubled that figure.

This is the second time Drake has passed this high-water mark, with his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late 2015 release netting 1.06 billion streams in the U.S.

Last month, Spotify announced Drake as their most streamed artist of all time, following up his title as the service’s most-streamed artist of 2015, and the honor for most streams in a week.

The Canadian rap superstar isn’t stopping there either, having just released a new song with DJ Khaled titled “For Free.”

    1. I would make a comment about him being Je.wish but as my parents have found out that I have been making disgusting comments on this site this is my final comment before I am grounded for a month and this website blocked from my computer. I hate you all and I will join my best buddies at Stormfront and Daily Stormer where you can find me as wisearyangod.

      I hate you, Drake.

      2. Reply to Djf yawn here we go again, Drizzy has written for more artists than ya favorite rapper who aint shit foh!

      1. If you were in the same room with me and tried putting drake on pacs level in front of me period i would smack you so fuckin hard your momma will feel it

      2. If you were in the same room with me and tried putting drake on pacs level in front of me period i would smack you so fuckin hard your momma will feel it pac never hired a ghost writer pac wrote all his own shit came up with all his own ideas pac was an original drakes some a mainstream staple thats gonna be gone in the next 5 years

      3. Oh, you’re gonna smack me? Look everyone, we got a tough guy in here. Drizzaveli is on Pac’s level, period. They’re both worldwide icons, sold millions of records and got a lot of haters. “that’s gonna be gone in the next 5 years” That’s what they said 5 years ago, but guess what? He’s still here, going platinum, making hits and classics and breaking records. Go fuck yourself. #DrakeIsLoveDrakeIsLife #ABilliStreams #DrizzaveliJustToMakeYouMadAgain

      4. I’m a Tupac fan and Drake is on Tupac level as far as global appeal. This nonsense about Drake using a ghost writer is talk especially when the so called writer said he has never written a song with Drake only collaborated. So until someone can Q.M to say different, than its all gossip. And I you would snack me and if by some chance you tried, tha would t be one ass whooping I would enjoy handing out.

      5. Can i give this comment 1000000 flames? Damn these kids are stupid. It’s not MEN listening to drake, it’s KIDS and WOMEN. Please stop…this is wackness of the highest degree. When you grow up you’ll realize you were idolizing a team of writers…not a man speaking from his life experiences, from his soul.

      6. EXACTLY! thats why hes not on pacs level! Thats what i been trying to say a drake song has as many writers as a television show

    4. I told one of ma dudes that he had some rough times and he would soon be outa that……NW he is …………..#””LORD.DRAKE…#

    5. Views will be on repeat until The 6 God next project comes out still knocking If your reading this .. The dude can’t be stopped period hate make fun so on and so forth that’s what happens when your at the top ! We all know weak mill bumping Views as he is crying himself to sleep like he ruined my career but dam that boy can make music!

    6. Oh wow a billion people listened to some shitty album for free. Who gives a fuck? Could never respect a grown man named Aubrey. Must be why he made up the Drake name lol

    7. Its the worst album ive heard in years so awful 3 good tracks the rest is pop garbage horrible hooks n singing hotline bling is the worst single he ever put out. I know females usually listen to garbage but seriously how is this the biggest album out?

    8. drake is a god in the rap game. Drake will outsell the whole rap industry combined at this point. Drake made rap music. With out drake rap music would be dead. Bums like you hipsters don’t buy music. All these other artists cant sell shit because you nerds illegaly stream their music and don’t support them like we drake fans support the rap god. Drake runs this rap game and you hipster nerd internet geek loser outcast socially akward wanna be’s need to accept that fact.

      1. you’re a dipshit…first of all Drake is POP music…secondly, you’re a nerd for liking drake….he’s a child actor who thinks he started from the bottom…and he doesn’t write his own songs…please, when you get a little older hopefully you’ll start to like big boy music, not childish gay ballads.

    9. OVO_Kid and most of these new generation retards think that if you sell the most then you must be the greatest Rapper, MC, Rap God or whatever. Sales was never a measurement of your rapping skills. No wonder people think Jay-Z is the greatest MC or whatever, or Drake is GOAT, or whatever. You need to educate yourself on Hip Hop and what it is.

    10. Drakes music is the only one that helps me to introduce the whole dildo up my ass, It really relaxes my anus so I can fit it in

    11. I’ve heard some of Drake’s so called music and I will never understand why this Canadian clown has so many fans. Drake is one of the worst and most overrated pop/rnb/rap artists that the industry has ever seen. If you really think about it, Drake is not at all talented at singing (think good singers such as R.Kelly, D’angelo etc) or rapping (think good rappers such as Kool G Rap, Scarface, Nas etc) but yet people just gobble the garbage up. Definitely a different generation now, a generation that has terrible taste in music and just follow what’s popular on the radio or youtube. Sad but true that most people are followers.

    12. Good for him doing good, but never talk Drake as Rap God or Rap King… He might be some pop rnb king, but not rap. I’m sure he will never be biggest selling artist as well… He’s on that point that he could do average album and you fans would still approve, saying something ignorant about it like SALES>EVERYTHING ELSE.
