Hip Hop Single Sales: The Weeknd, Drake & Fetty Wap

    1. Guys. Gold is a formal certification. A song doesn’t “go gold” (or platinum, etc) once it hits a certain sales threshold. It needs to be formally certified with the RIAA.

Moreover, RIAA certifies singles based on sales + streams. A unit is equal to 1 sale or 100 streams.

Case-in-point: The Hills is already triple platinum, even though it hasn’t even hit 2 million sales, let alone 3 million.

    2. Must be fake sales. Who cares about Drake? And that Nae Nae song is garbage. Damn. Black people make garbage music.

    4. Note to hiphopdx.com this is how you’re suppose to report sales. The week sales then the total sales. No one cares about streams.
