50 Cent Discusses G-Unit Regrets

50 Cent says that he would construct G-Unit differently if he was able to build his crew with Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Tony Yayo and Kidd Kidd again.

“I wouldn’t have built something that required me as their center,” 50 Cent says during an interview with Rolling Stone. “I would’ve built it so it functions on its own. When you look at it, they’ve sold millions of records on their own. If they weren’t so strongly associated [with G-Unit], they’d probably have crews under them. They didn’t really have an interest in doing that because they [already] had a strong association and had so much fun in the position they were in at that point.”

The G-Unit is slated to release its The Beast Is G-Unit EP later this year, which is why 50 Cent says he pushed back his own Street King Immortal album until 2015.

“I didn’t want to lose the momentum connected with everyone being back together,” he says.

The group’s extended hiatus came once 50 Cent became disillusioned with the other members of the group.

“My interest wasn’t there for a while,” 50 says during the Rolling Stone interview. “It took for Yayo to say things publicly to me that I didn’t understand [at the time] for me to reevaluate everything. I did so much for them that he didn’t have reasoning for it. It’s not that I have a problem with them, but I know, when I assess everything that’s happened overall in my life, some people have developed unbelievable senses of entitlement.”

    1. I don’t know about the details of their situation, cause i don’t care. I am digging the shit they’re putting out this time around. More so than last time. They seem hungrier.

    2. the ep and remixes were all dope and just as good as any other artists and groups releasing music today can’t wait for more

    3. No excuse bitch ass nigga, a real Boss would have mentored them into being their own Bosses but you wanted to be a control freak and now you have regrets because you ran a dictatorship instead of a democracy.

Too many bastards in this rap game want to rape and rob you and keep you in the dark when it comes to the business side of ahit. Grown ass men on Twitter who have sold millions of albums yet they crying about the next nigga not feeding their ass.

      Damn shame.

    4. It’s easier to build a crew/label when you are a producer like Rza/Dre/Swizz/Pharell/Diddy/Kanye than if you are just a solo artist like Tip/Luda/Ross/Jeezy. In order to have a succesful crew/label you have to be a strong leader and have the respect of your people.

    5. Sold millions on their own? lol Buck didn’t even sell 2 million in his prime. Banks went 2x platinum, then never sold 1 mill again. Yayo never went platinum. The problem was 50 ran them into the ground with his control and obsessive behavior. Plus they had artists ready to blow who never saw release dates.

      1. Naw, artists like Hit Rod, Spider Loc, 40 Glocc and Olvia were never gonna blow, Game and Buck were the biggest and they both had to deal with their own Boss trying to ruin their careers.

      2. ” Yayo never went platinum”

He sold like 8-900k! more than some of these new niggas will do in 3-4 albums!

    6. Again, William ain’t shitting on anyone.

      Animal Abortion: 47k
      Mastermind: 180k

Call me when 50 reaches mastermind.

      1. Stop comparing 50 to Ross.

50 still has to catch up to King Mac Miller who took his spot and now outsells him as an Independant artist.

        Actual Ambition = 100,000
Watching Movies with the Sound Off = 230,000

      2. fuk boy everytrack on animnal ambition was free that shit was a mixtape nigga, fifty made 1m cash profits off that first week , rick rozay a fukin cop and his little fuk buddy gunplay got his ass jumped munkeyyyyyy

      1. ,them shits came and went, maybe we can get a Buck vs Banks Mixtape but other than that I doubt people lose sleep over another push back.

      2. He wishes he would have built G Unit different, LMBAO this clown nigga must read the comments on these stories.

    7. I’m stroking my johnson thinking of clever ways to hate on Fiddy and G-Unit for all the terrible things they have done to hip-hop.

    8. 50’s name will always be relevant because of his huge hits 10 years ago. Musically he’s not relevant anymore, he can’t bring that spark back and never was a lyricist, so he can’t fall back on that. Game had his hits, but he can still put out a hot verse that people will pay attention to. People only see Game dissing G Unit but don’t see that G Unit take shots at him anytime they bring up his name in interviews.

      1. lol you hear that new Game song with Weezy? Game rapping/singing in autotune, LMAO he has no style of his own
