Attempting to raise awareness about the lasting devastation of war, Iraqi-born rapper Tony K gives viewers a glimpse into the horrors of his hometown in the video for “Welcome To Baghdad,” which follows the journey of a young Iraqi kid who is the victim of terrorism.
As he states on his website, “Iraq is known to be a hotbed of violence one of the most dangerous regions in the world so much so that Iraq is often used as a metaphor for extreme violence such as ‘Chiraq,’ the Chicago adopted term used to reference the severity of the violence in the Windy City.” Unfortunately, Tony K sees just as much violence in his current city of Detroit.
