Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony saved their marriage.
Speaking toYou Magazine, Pinkett detailed how the infamous moment in which Rock joked about her bald appearance only for the Men In Black actor to march on stage and slap the comedian, ended up being a blessing for her family.

She said: “I nearly didn’t even attend the Oscars that year, but I’m glad I did. I call it the ‘holy slap’ now because so many positive things came after it.”
The Set it Off star discussed how the moment made her realize she would never divorce Smith even though they have been separated since 2016.

“That moment of the shit hitting the fan is when you see where you really are,” she added. “After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him. Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn’t happened?”
Pinkett Smith also opened up on her affair with August Alsina, which she says happened when she and Will were separated: “The point is, at the time of my entanglement, Will and I were not together but he just wasn’t ready for our split to be revealed.

“The reason I addressed it was that the ‘entanglee’ had spoken about it and I wanted to confront that. It was my mess, and I took the bullet for it.”
Will Smith has been embroiled in more controversy of late after his former assistant accused him of having gay sex with Duane Martin and of abusing Pinkett Smith for having an affair with singer Marc Anthony.
Brother Bilaal, who worked for Smith for many years, recently alleged that the Oscar-winner walked in on his wife having sex with Anthony and proceeded to turn violent.
“Will lost it and beat the shit out of Jada — I mean, beat the dogshit out of her,” he claimed. “So bad that they had to make a makeshift hospital in their home so that it couldn’t get out to the public.

“That pain of Will seeing Jada fucking Marc Anthony on the couch in their home — he know they were already fucking on the set [of Hawthorne], this is fact. He just couldn’t take it and he whipped her ass.”
While Will Smith has not commented on the allegations, Jada addressed the claims that Will had sex with Martin during an appearance on The Breakfast Club, saying the couple were preparing to take legal action.

“It’s ridiculous. This is a person that tried a money shakedown that didn’t work,” she said. “We’re going to take legal action because it’s one thing to have your opinion about somebody versus just making up salacious, malicious stories.”
