DJ Khaled has donated $10,000 to a Miami, Florida high school band. 

Khaled, who is set to release Suffering from Success October 22, visited students of the Miami Norland Senior High band Friday (September 20). He spoke to the students in the school gymnasium before letting them know about the donation. 

In an interview done outside of the gym, DJ Khaled spoke about why it was important to visit the school with funds.

“I wanted to just inspire the kids and let them know to be greater and that I’m proud of them,” Khaled said to Revolt.tv. ”I make it a priority every year to give back to my community and this was one of the ways I wanted to give back.”

Earlier this year, other rappers also made headlines based around education. In May and September, Kendrick Lamar visited different schools as part of the Get Schooled initiative. In July, Wale gave a college student $25,000. In August, Juicy J promised a $50,000 donation for the winner of a twerking contest and Pitbull opened a charter school in Florida.
