Pharrell Williams has signed Odd Future ringleader Tyler, The Creator to his new imprint i am Other. The signing comes in the wake of the launch of the label, which also houses artists Cris Cab and Maxine Ashley.

“They’re not getting the recognition in the mainstream media, but in the digital world they dominate – the 16-, 17-, 18-year-old virtuosos all over the world coming out of nowhere and just taking stake in their position,” said Pharrell. “The Others are multifaceted, pro-active people who live outside the box and aren’t confined by categories.”

Tyler, The Creator reportedly turned down major label deals and instead opted to release his sophomore album Goblin with a one-album contract with XL Recordings.
