This week, we present the other side of the debate, looking at groups like A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, N.W.A and Run-DMC.
Bone bone bone!!!! Everyone knows those thugs from St. Clair are the best rap group Period!
Wu-Tang Clan is the best group of all time.
The have the most copied flow in the industry
I never heard anybody say that the Beastie Boys were the best group of all time. HHDX is just looking for any reason they can find to shit on white people again.
(((white people))) like Yauch, Diamond, Horowitz. Are you implying HHDX are antisemitic?
no-one has EVER said that you are right. this article has an agenda attached to it for sure,
i swear i only come on this site like once a month and everytime i do i find an article 2 remind of why i don’t anymore
Witty Unpredictable Talent All Natural Game!!!
Where is Wu Tang in this? Oh I forgot this HHDX
So this “Black Panther” guy is into S/M stuff? Or why is he wearing a black gimp suit with a spike collar
no-one not even white people have ever called beastie boys the greatest ever. had a good run but this article is pointless. we all know this
Bone thugs N Harmony is the greatest rap group ever, people be hating on BTNH on the lowkey and don’t think we notice.
BTNH have one album anyone cares about, and even that is overrated. They are better than the Beastie Boys but still average AF.
Only one everybody cares about yet from 94-to 2002 the have 10 platinum projects and 2 gold that speaks for itself. You should have just said they have only one you care about.
Uh bone was only good when eazy was around, after that it was a wrap.
so how many of this groups play the instruments and produce the whole thing?
We all heard of the Beastie boys, but if you came from the hood in the south, midwest, west, east, you wasn’t bumping no beastie boys sorry. Everybody was jamming that Outkast, No limit, G-unit, Biggie, Pac, Bone thugs, Jay-z, Cash Money, Ugk, You can use all that underground impact stuff you want. The Beastie Boys had no impact and the ghetto and hood none. Saying Beasties is the greatest will be like somebody 10-15 years from now calling logic or Macklemore the best to do it.
Not entirely true…everybody I know in the South was bumpin RunDmc Beastie Boys LL Cool J Kurtis Blow Fat Boys slick rick and earlier grandmaster flash and the furious five and even sugar hill gang! At every party in the south all bumpin Def Jam artist! Then the 90’s came around and it was NWA Geto Boys UGK eightball& mjg and of course Triple 6 mafia!! Then all the groups you had mention…making the point of generation gap.. my first concert in memphis was NWA opening for slick rick then LL Cool J. Later I saw RunDMC and then the beasties with ATCQ…all were dope af and each had a significant part in hip hop!
Why The Beastie Boys Are Not The Greatest Group Of All Time: Because they are wack.
Also jevvish so it’s a big no-no.
I don’t knock anybody for their opinion everybody has their favorites, I grew up in East tx my favorite group was Ugk but also too when the internet hit I got to see Pimp C more I didn’t like him as much because he came off bitter and seemed like he was always hating. Also loved Geto Boys and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, 3-6 mafia was dope to me too I feel like Dj paul is way underrated as a prouducer.
Gotta be the Wu. 36 Chambers, Tical, Return to 36 Chambers, Liquid Swordz, OB4CL, Ironman & Wu-Tang Forever= Greatest album streak ever.
outkast is radioplayable bullshit and is gay as fuck
the wu tang albums are always a mix of good songs and wack songs, no consistency
There’s an album called Enter the 36 Chambers I think you should listen to
I think this discussion is best suited for people from the Beastie’s generation. And I’m talking about in the late 80’s and early 90’s. People say “no one was bumping the Beastie’s in my hood”. Well, how old were you when they came out? In New York and Cali, they were banging the Beasties hard. You can hear the samples and scratches from the Beastie Boys all over Dre’s early work. And New York loved all rap when it came out. Whether Beasties, Run DMC or Grandmaster Flash… I feel like the people that were born and competent to understand music when the Beasties came out enjoyed their music: white, black, latino, etc… I see a lot of people saying Wu-Tang and BTNH are the best, or G-Unit… possibly. But to discredit the Beasties and attempt to take them out of the convo, I think you would have more clout to your argument if you were even around for License to Ill or Paul’s Boutique; when they actually dropped. Either way, their music is good. A lot of the groups listed in these vids make good music. I just think some of the comments in this discussion are based on pure opinion and no experience of actually listening to the Beasties nor being alive when they first came on the scene.
The Black Panther Theory, really Murs? but u get why we were mad. First off who came out before RUN DMC cause I’d like to know why we don’t give much shine to Grand master flash and his group. On impact u right RUN did their thing then, Wu Tang and Bone if ur looking at sales and global appeal. Beastie Boys run was short and not in a lot of peoples catalogue!
Beastie Boys got me through my teens/20s in white suburbia. Taught me about authenticity and about questioning authority/political establishment. Taught me that eventually a man needs to put down the bottle, get off the block and go make a difference in the world.
Beastie Boys are fucking underrated. period. Licensed To Ill was literally sampled by everybody circa 88~92. They were one of the key acts that put Def jam (and Hip Hop, for general population) on the map with Run DMC and Cool J regardless of – well it actually regarded but – their skin color. Then, while Paul’s Boutique showed some kind of blueprint for production, from that point they kept leaning toward more alternative, somewhat experimental section which wouldn’t appeal to normal hip hop fans (both mainstream and ‘underground’). Sabotage wasn’t really a ‘real hip hop’, neither was Intergalactic, the list goes on. They even put Tibetan monks on the album twice or more. As a longtime fan of Beasties I kinda understand why they are (and will) always ignored… somehow it is quite depressing.
Beastie boys were not the greatest hip hop group of all time. Frankly each era had a great hip hop group. Not designated to one group of folks. However one thing that is accurate is they were consistent with their material and came out with stuff that they liked as opposed to trying to get spins on the radio. And frankly most samplers copied them to one extent or another. Too bad after paul’s boutique sampling court case, sampling went down the drain and you had to pay for every little damn thing on your song.
Me personally. Its Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Any greatest group of all time debate with mentioning Bone is not worth anyone’s time
