    1. Yes Biggie is the GOAT. He was the totalpackage: could go hardcore, rnb, pop whatever. He had the flow, charisma and micskillz. Biggie combined all the elemetns in one. Thats why he is the most complete mc ever. Not impressed then listen to : gimme the loot, hypnotize, who shot ya, juicy, victory with puff).

      1. A goat with just a couple albums out lol? At least artist like eminem, tupac, Nas, Jay jave 6 plus albums. I love big… But I love big the same way I love big L. Super dope, but we didn’t hear enough to call them greatest of all time.

        1. No doubt Biggie’s lyrics were great but I don’t agree that only two studio albums is enough to earn him the title of GOAT. If he had dropped 5 to 6 consistent albums like Em, Nas, Hov and Pac have done then one will have been in a better position to argue that he is the GOAT. More so since his death, no new materials which goes to show that he was never a hard working MC- more reason why I don’t see him as GOAT.

          1. Biggie wasnt a hard working mc? Really? After 94 he did the junior mafia album, LAD (2cd) and some features. He died in 97. In 3 years he did a double album so think about that?

    2. Kinda dropped the ball on this one Justin….I’ve liked the majority of of DX breakdowns and share the links on my Facebook but you prolly should’ve titled this “Why Jay-Z might not be the G.O.A.T. Instead. You spent more than half comparing jay to biggie. This would’ve been better if you compared all the artist that are interdisciplinary better than Jay and then just keep it moving. You didn’t even talk about his diss records or stage presence, let alone song making process that is explicit in “Notorious” soooo you dropped the ball. I am a hip hop aficionado so contact me if you think this intelligent comment is worth hiring me as editor.

    3. Yeah he was influental and shit but lyrically – No. Though he was better than, say, another dead rapper – 2pac technically.

      1. Lmfao biggie did NOT introduce alter ego raps. Even Shock G was wayy before biggies time and he wasnt the first to do it either

    4. Of course Biggie isn’t the greatest. King HOV delivers Biggie’s lines better than Biggie. The greatest thing to happen to Biggie was King HOV using so many of Biggie’s lines, no one would even care about Biggie if it wasn’t for King HOV. Nas wishes he could get away repeating so many lines from another rapper but that’s why he’s broke.

      1. Always this dude chipping in basically every discussion, comparing everything with Hov. We could talk about Stevie Wonder, Prince, Paul McCartney or what have you and he’ll still find a way to trash it and big up his all-time fav…… Judging by your replies on different topics over the past few weeks, it seems to me your listening scope must be very limited. I feel for ya, missing out on all that other good music, whether it’s Hiphop or anything else.

    5. biggie will always be the goat in my opinion ready to die it just reminds me of my life when I was younger everyday struggle used to give me chills I felt every line ready to die is a press play to this day I can still listen to ready to die from front to back life after death flawless victory to me I just wish he could still be alive but if I think that biggie isn’t the greatest then u need to listen to things don change finna the loot everday stuggle I got a story to tell somebody got to die ten crack comandments he is and always be the GOAT

    6. RIP B.I.G. He isn’t the GOAT but tracks “Warning” and “Gimme the Loot” from the ready to die album are two of my all time favorites. Rakim is the best ever and that isn’t even up for debate.

    7. I hate the ‘a three year run over 20 years ago cannot justify being considered the GOAT.’ If anything it should be even more reason why Biggie should be considered one of the GOATs. As you said, it took Jay 6 albums to produce a body of work with emotional scope. Biggie was doing this on his first album . . . at the age of 22, with songs like Suicidal Thoughts and Everyday Struggle. And let me make clear – I don’t think you can put any one rapper in that place. I feel numerous rappers have an argument, so I prefer saying ‘he was one of the all time greats.’ So, was he the GOAT? No. But no one rapper can be considered that.

      1. Thank you! It’s all a matter of opinion, so nobody can be right or wrong. I may like and relate stronger to one artist as opposed to another, but that doesn’t mean your wrong for liking someone different because you can relate more to what they’re talking about.

I think Pac was an amazing poet, and his intensity and passion that he spoke to us with on his records was second to none… However, I don’t relate to him in many ways so I don’t listen to Pac regularly. I related more to Biggie. I’m into his flow and clever wordplay. That’s why I listen, that’s the FUN!!

I agree that there is no GOAT. There’s just different artists for different people. And that’s OK!

    8. I like Biggie, but i dont like him when he gets compared to Pac…He was a sneak dissing ass dude…Pac basically embarrassed him, fucked his wife, and was on his ass so hard that death really saved him…He could never be the greatest…But dope, yeah…

      1. Yup. Told you he was an actor. From NY yelling WESTSIDE. Arrested for sexual assault. Acted hard when surrounded by dudes from a gang he didn’t rep, that later robbed his mom and his estate. A chicken chested coward that would tak shot then jump you with his football player sized niggaz or pull a gun. Never go fades. Yeah. REAL. LOL. He had a testicle shot off by his own homies from Black Moon’s gang that set him up, and blamed BIG. Like a bitch.

    9. N o how Biggie is going to be GOAT with just two studio albums. Consistency is key. If Biggie had dropped 5 to 6 albums, then he would have provided us with materials to enable us argue about whether he is the best. You can imagine if 50 Cent had died after releasing Masacre.

      1. I don’t know about that . . . nobody was saying 50 was better than Biggie or Pac in ’03 or ’04. He was just a street nigga who brought a certain grittiness the game was missing and blew up because of it. While I do consider GRODT a classic, Massacre was lackluster and full of pop singles. 50 had immense popularity during that time but I don’t think anyone considered him a GOAT rapper.

        1. Am just saying if 50 Cent had stopped at Masacre, we probably we arguing about him being the best. To become GOAT, an Artist should drop at least 5 consistent albums. Biggie only has two. As a matter of fact you can’t even have a greatest hits album from Biggie- from which albums will you pull that one out?

    10. biggie small is the greatest rapper of all time. I can only recall one bad verse from him.

      Top 10:
      1. Biggie
      2. Drake
      3. Jay-Z
      4. Ghostface
      5. 2Pac
      6. NaS
      7. Rakim
      8. Scarface
      9. KRS-One
      10. MF Doom

      1. Wow drake number 2, your a dweeb. Dude don’t even write his own verses. Gtfoh. You on point with all your other picks but you lost me at drake. But I respect ya for the ghostface pick.

    11. BIG IS THE G.O.A.T ..think about it Biggie dropped two albums spit bars on top of bars on radio and street music..PAC is dope too but never held his own.. how many PAC songs have features?? All his hits are hits but never gave me PAC solo hits like Hail Mary for example one verse dope beat and hook but why only one verse should’ve gave me two verses at least

      1. you dumb azz….Pac never used features until he went to death row….Keep your head up, when my homies call, dear mama, live and die in LA, changes , I ain’t mad atcha…all big hits without features…and I could name more you peon

    12. Biggie, Biggie, Biggie. Greatest Rapper, Greatest Lyricist and Greatest Rap Artist are 3 different questions. Greatest Rapper? Dunno, maybe an impossible question. Greatest Street Hip Hop Artist and Street Rapper? Biggie by far. For instance “Who Shot Ya?”, which is absent from his albums, is top 2 best street record ever! Biggie’s voice top 3 in rap ever. Right with X and maybe DMC. Everything he rapped dudes assumed it was true automatically. That says alot about his believability. Who’s more believable? No one. Honestly, do you know more about Kendrick and J Cole than you did Biggie? You know Biggie had a daughter, his Ma Dukes was in his first single’s video. It was like he was running for rap president and he won! Everybody was grimy in ’93, Wu, Nas, everyone. His first album he going from Tims to Gators ahead of everybody but maybe Rappin’ 4tay (‘member him?). He’s telling you his moms got “cancer in her breast” and “don’t ask” why he mf’n “stressed” on the 1st song of his debut album. No one has, not even shot up 50 cent or 2Pac, lyrically and emotionally brought you into their world with more efficiency than Biggie (for 2Pac Stans, key word is efficiency). Jay has the best career and is therefore the Greatest Rap Artist. Greatest Lyricist? Depends on many subjective factors. Greatest Rapper? If it ain’t Big, then it ain’t to say for sure.

        1. Really? You have an unreleased Tupac VS. Biggy battle that no one else on earth has heard. Wow. You must be broke, since you didn’t sell it and no one has heard it. Wait… you don’t know what a battle is, do you? Dildo slugger…

    13. you idiots know nothing bout hip-hop…Ice Cube ,Scarface, Bun B , and Eminen are all better than Big….No one is better than Pac …Pac sold more records and made better songs that touch hearts across the world. Can’t believe yaw would be so disrespectful

    14. Big was good but he didn’t do anything else big have pretty good lyrics. He didn’t change the game or help the community or have songs that helped change people’s lives unless you were a drug dealer. I don’t see why people would ever make him a G.O.A.T.

    15. We will never know cause he fucked with puffy to long, if he would have dropped him biggie would have been untouchable.

    16. Dame Dash business moves helped a lot more than people credit him Jay was nothing special he didnt have a unique flow, voice and was just seen as average wit lyrics the people never messed wit Reasonable Doubt like they did with The Infamous,ILLmatic or Ready To Die if Pac n Biggie hadn’t died jay would never have took them spots it would of been DMX and 2Pac battling for the top.Biggie would of dropped Puffy and grabbed The Lox to start his own label cant say he the GOAT but he far better than Jay,2Pac and DMX.

    17. List of Rappers Better than BIG

      Nas
      Scarface
      Eminem
      Bun B
      Ice Cube
      E40
      Pac
      Kendrick

No way he’s the best ever

    18. Ready to Die was very introspective,he spoke on his mom,his daughter and him struggling to have so let’s clear that up…he had the POTENTIAL for big thangs but was gone before we could see his art blossom, which makes it so tragic

    19. Biggie contributed more in 3 years than everyone in 20. B.I.G. is the father to all of these niggas styles today, HHDX has really become irrelevant.

      1. That makes no sense. Just because he did it before doesn’t mean he’s the GOAT or that new artists can’t do better. By that logic whoever biggie listened to is better, and whoever that guy was inspired by was better. I don’t think he is the father of everyone’s style but even if he was, you rule out the chance for progress, while ignoring that biggie was influenced by others before him. As Cedric the Entertainer says, “wake your punkass up”

    20. Hov is the GOAT. No disrespect but Jay-Z set the bar very high going forward from Hard Knock Life. Reasonable Doubt is clearly his BEST album but his IMPACT with HKL and how he revolutionized the rap game is compared to NONE. His body of work overall is what puts him at the top spot.

    21. Let’s remember a couple things. To argue Hov being as good as BIG when he was still alive makes 0 sense. Jigga had 1 album out before BIG passed and it is to this day a classic. Maybe no, Jigga wasn’t on BIG’s level AT THE TIME but Jay has LONG surpassed BIG’s abilities on the mic and then some. Not to imply BIG wasn’t great for his time, he was king of NY from like 94-96 but his competition was lacking, aside from Wu, the insurgence of NYC rappers didn’t really hit the scene until like 98 when Def Jam became a powerhouse (the early 90s was mostly dominated by west coast rappers). And Pac was also 100x better than BIG, sorry but it’s true… BIG dropped 2 albums which were great, Pac dropped countless great albums… BIG was ahead of his time but if he came out any later, he may have been slept on.

      1. Why was competition lacking? When Big was alive you had: Nas, Jeru The damaja, KRS One, Gangstarr, Mobb Deep.
94-95 was the second GOLDEN era and Big destryed all of them.

      1. The guy your mom let but in her? Yes. The most overrated homeless person at the shelter. I know you aren’t talking about BIG, Mr. skinny jeans.

    22. BIG IS OVERRATED! What if DMX had died after 2 albums, would you have considered him greatest of all time based on two albums???? BIG has 2 good albums. PAC has over 60 hours of classic music commercially released and all with consistency. You new york reporters gotta stop sucking your own dick, its getting gross.

      1. very valid point. If X died after flesh of my flesh and it’s dark and hell is hot.. he would no question be argued one of the greatest ever

      2. Lol Pac made 60 hours of classic music. You dumbass. Pac was all about quatity and not quality. 10.000 songs from Pac sounds the same: thug in jail, thug in the street, smoking weed, drinking henessy. MATW was Pac’s only classic. Biggie’s RTD album shits on the whole collection of 2pac songs. DMX had 2 dope albums but no classics.

      1. Lauryn Hill’s solo career consists of one album released 18 years ago; no way in hell she should be in that conversation.

    23. First album was classic. 2nd was watered down big time. Still had some amazing songs on there but I’d say they could have left off like 30-40% of the tracks. Mad wordplay but never made me feel anything other than “let’s fuck up this dude” or “let’s party”. Legend no doubt, GOAT he is not. We see rappers start their careers with fire and fizzle out afterwards all the time, we never got the chance to see if he could hold up as times change.

    24. come on guys! 20 years later n****z are still having the same ol’ Biggie GOAT discussions. How about moving on to something else?

      1. Cuz aint nobody been as polarizing or as nice or as big as b.i.g. since his three discs stand up to all of pacs all of jays, all of puns. Big L and LL always get lost even though this is their era as well. However Biggie was who it was all inspired by.

    25. hhdx should do a vote based goat tournament. take like 64 of the best mcs and let the people decide

      1. I nominate, in no order:
Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, KRS-One, Scarface, GZA, Method Man, Lil Wayne, Redman, LL Cool J, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Ludacris, Tech N9ne, Twista, DMX, Ja Rule, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Notorious BIG, Ice Cube, Krayzie Bone, Styles P, Jadakiss, Kanye West,Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Big Boi, Andre 3000, Bun B, Drake (for the whiners), Lupe Fiasco, Q-Tip, Black Thought, Missy Elliott, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Chuck D, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Prodigy, Havoc, 50 Cent, Big Daddy Kane, B-Real, Slick Rick, Game, Fat Joe, Pusha T, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, E-40, T.I., N.O.R.E., Eazy-E, Big L, Big Pun, RZA, MF Doom, Canibus, Pharoahe Monch, Guru, Royce Da 5’9″

        Let the people chose HHDX!!

        1. Is that what y’all want? You don’t think it will go on for 3 months of voting and build-up only for Jay, Nas, Big, Em and Pac to be in the final countdown?

    26. Lol… le truc sans fin… dans tous les cas Nas sera le rappeur préféré de ton rappeur préféré…
Lol… endless discussions… anyway, Nas will always be your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper !

    27. Of course BIG is one of the best. King HOV is the GOAT because he’s still alive and keeps dropping heat, but never deny the skills of Frank White. Much better than Tupac, I’ll say that. Only broke Nas stans like that paranoid fuck.

    28. There’s a big difference between the GOAT artist and GOAT lyricist..IMO Artists:
      1. Nas
      2. Eminem
      3. Dr. Dre
      4. Kanye west
      5. Jay Z
      6. 2Pac
      7. The Roots
      8. Kendrick
      9. J Cole
      10. Drake
      11. Lupe Fiasco
      12. Common
      13. Outkast

      Lyricists:
      Eminem,
      Chino XL,
      Crooked I,
      Big Pun,
      Tech 9ne,
      Elzhi,
      RA rugged man,

      Lloyd banks
      Fabolous,
      Lowkey,
      Joell Ortiz,
      Biggie,
      Termanology

    29. I’M big was the greatest. The way he turns phrases gets your mind thinking one thing then spins it in a whole new way. Rapped about the life he lived abound lived til he passed this world. Had he had more time on this earth then I feel there would be no doubt who was the freatest, mans life was cut short and we aboutndll suffered

      1. Objectively speaking, he just can’t be the greatest hip hop artist of all time with just 2 albums and a lack of depth in subject matter compared to say Nas or kendrick..you can’t just blindly put him on a pedestal after all these years where other artist are over lapping what he’s achieved..he’s a one of the greatest lyricist..but certainly NOT the GOAT.
