Asap kept it 100, a bunch of street hustlas that don’t care about the music as an art form makes for a lot of garbage music. Make me wonder were/are as careless and undisciplined about how they go about their street business.
Can you make the same argument that suburban internet celebrities don’t care about the music as an art form? I don’t think of this as something that’s unique to one segmentation. Everyone’s looking to eat off Hip Hop. Everyone’s looking to be a celebrity. It’s a by-product of everyone being their own personal walking scoreboard. How many Twitter followers you got? pretty much a laughing stock…i cant even get into rap anymmore cause it’s the same shit over and fucking over…there’s a good couple of that do come out every now and then but thats about it…i miss the hardcore diss tracks, and other shit man, now we just have all the asaps and others who create this whack ass shit that say’s like 10 words in a verse then the chorus…like the song called “smooth operator”…soon as i heard that fucker start rap’n i turned that shit off and threw the cd out my car…hip hop is weak…i’m staying with underground music

Here’s something that I’ve been obsessed with thinking about lately: How successful is Aftermath and Shady and Interscope had 50 Cent never dropped Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ with them? Em looked like he was plateauing around Eminem Show. Game definitely doesn’t happen. How many albums do they not sell and as a result, how big is the legacy? Does 50 deserve MORE credit? Nevertheless, with Tip announcing Wayne joined the Zulu Nation, I’m sure getting through his contract (or out of it) is absolutely at the forefront of his mind. It’ll be fun to see what happens. Birdman’s business practices ain’t changed in 17 years. Drake, Nicki, Young Thug, whoever… will be singing the same song at some point. And in Drake’s case, singing the same song again.
