When I try to think who’s my favorite, I think who do I get most excited to hear new ish from, and BT is definitely one of the top two or three. He does it all and he is great live
The reason is because as ill as Black Thought is, to the mainstream audience, he’s just apart of the Roots (and that’s not saying alot since the mainstream audience doesn’t appreciate The Roots as much as they would say Eminem and Jay-Z). Black THought has that potential still and if he were to step out into the spotlight if just for a bit and had that HIT? It’d be a wrap.
Black Thought is the grandaddy of Philly hip hop. I honestly thought the Roots released the best PURE HIP HOP cd of the year with How We Got Over. I thought they’re career was over with Rising Down then out of nowhere they got that spot as the in house band on Jimmy Fallon and How We Got Over dropped.
