    1. Just because his lyrics are amazing doesn’t mean he can make every other part of his song boring. Just my .02.

    2. Atlantic is holding up “Lasers”, so this is the first leak off of “Food and Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album,” which is gonna be coming up after they finally drop “Lasers”

Oh yea, and I feel sorry for anybody that thinks this song is boring.

      1. Dude, are you stupid, how dare you say Lupe sounds like Drake.

Never compare Lupe to Drake. Never

Lupe is one of the greatest, Drake is not.

    3. SICK, YA N****S NEED TO WAKE UP, WE BUILDIN’ MINDS FASTER OVA HERE LUPE FIASCO, KID CUDI, WALE THESE N****S THA TRUTH OPEN YA EARS N’ LISTEN TO WATS GOIN’ ON AROUND U, THEN OPEN YA EYES…..

    4. SICK, YA’LL NEED TO WAKE UP, WE BUILDIN’ MINDS FASTER OVA HERE LUPE FIASCO, KID CUDI, WALE THESE MC’S THA NEW THA TRUTH OPEN YA EARS N’ LISTEN TO WATS GOIN’ ON AROUND U, THEN OPEN YA EYES…..

    5. Apparently, in order to keep a buzz he is releasing F&L2: TGARA on his label so the he isn’t bullshitted on 2 albums. I give this song a solid 4/5. But shit does he rip it. Welcome back Lupe

      1. You are a dumbass for saying he’s biting Kid Cudi, seriously. You need a lesson in Lupe Fiasco Music. Your homework is to listen to The Cool and Food & Liquor and never in your life would you say he’s biting Kid Cudi. NEVER

    6. Lupe has had this flow since Food and Liquor, listen to SWITCH by Lupe. He makes your favorite rapper seem like he STOLE Lupe’s flow.

      No…seriously.

      10/10

    7. Reasons why LUPE FIASCO is the GOAT:

      Food & Liquor

    8. BEST RAPPER ALIVE, TOP 10 DEAD OR ALIVE:
      1.2PAC
      2.LUPE FIASCO
      3.NAS
      4.EMINEM
      5.BIG L
      6.CROOKED I
      7.THE NOTORIOUS BIG
      8.RAS KASS
      9.RAKIM
      10.ROYCE DA 5’9″

      1. nice list….but it needs Ghostface killah in ur top 10 and eminem needs 2 be removed because of his new music

      2. Not a good list but i guess it’s all about preference so no hating going on. Nas is a much better lyricist however.

      3. Ras Kass? a guy who has never put out one dope album in his life is on your top ten list? But Kane isn’t on there though…c’mon man. That’s like leaving Magic Johnson off the top ten players list and putting Detlef Schrempf on there.

      4. I forgot to mention the list was in no particular order, oops

@ ptone814- Thanks, & Ghostface is DOPE, but not in my top 10, can’t wait for the Iron Man reissue! & I agree, Em’s new stuff is WACK mostly

@ daye- I’m sure you prefer Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane & Plies = )

@ Chupps- I got caught in the moment, in NO WAY is Lupe Fiasco better than NASTY NAS

@ Sensaye252- I guess you never heard SOUL ON ICE, the MOST UNDERRATED CLASSIC OF ALL-TIME, or A.D.I.D.A.S., the best album of the year so far after Distant Relatives

    9. Lupe is a ill MC but this song is boring. Shit almost actually made me go to sleep. HipHop is so boring now. Repetitive and predictable.

    10. Lupe the best to ever do it.

don’t hop on my dick and keep your opinions to yourself cuz this is MY OPINION

    11. This song’s dope…it feels good to get new Lupe. Here are my top 10 favorite MCs right now in no particular order:

      1) Canibus
      2) Immortal Technique
      3) Chino XL
      4) Ras Kass
      5) Pharoahe Monch
      6) Lupe Fiasco
      7) Blu
      8) Black Thought
      9) MF DOOM
      10) Tie Between MC Zumbi from Zion I, Macklemore, Raw Poetic from Panacea, MC Geologic from Blue Scholars, and RA Scion from Common Market

      1. Cosign Immortal Technique, Ras Kass(A.D.I.D.A.S. IS FIRE), Lupe Fiasco, Blu, Black Thought & MF Doom, LIKE 2PAC SAID “CHINO XL FUCK YOU TOO”

HERE’S SOME OF MY FAVORITE EMCEES RIGHT NOW:
        1.Fashawn
        2.J. Cole
        3.Freddie Gibbs
        4.PackFM
        5.Big K.R.I.T.
        6.Sudan
        7.Pill
        8.Big Sean
        9.Hayes
        10.Nipsey Hussle
        11.Koncept

      2. I think a lot of the artists that you name have talent, like Fashawn and J. Cole…I just tend to hate the gratuitous Gangsta shit. the market’s just over-saturated with it. I prefer MCs with different Subject matter. Like sometimes I feel like some MCs can’t go one song without mentioning something about guns. I like Koncept too though.

Blu’s a master Story-teller. Lupe’s a freak of nature with wordplay and metaphors. Ras Kass’ “Soul On Ice” is a hip-hop classic, as is Canibus’ “Rip The Jacker” LP. I actually think “Poet Laureate II” by Canibus is the greatest single song lyrically in the history of Hip-Hop. And I love Immortal Technique’s angry militant ass lol!

P.S. I think Chino’s an absolute beats on the Mic, and he would eat like 99% of the MCs out there alive in a battle.

      3. No offense, but that list is typical “hip hop internet head”. Come on dude, besides Black Thought, who is even relevent?

I mean I love Lupe, but in the real, buisness world, dude can’t even get a album out that will sale.

      4. @Everest209 Personally I could care less about Album sales and who is “Relevant”. What I do care about is good music…good Hip-Hop…and the artists that I named make the kind of music that I love to listen to. I’d rather listen to an artist that puts out good music with low album sales than an artist who puts out shitty music with high album sales any day of the week.

I don’t like Rick Ross, I don’t like Jeezy, I hate F’ing Gucci Mane, and you could say that they are more “relevant” than the artists that I named. I’m not much of a Jay-Z fan though I recognize that he has talent. Eminem was doper to me around the time when he was on SoundBombing II. Drake, to me, does have some talent, but he’s content to do the same thing as everyone else instead of being different, so I don’t listen to him. Lil Wayne makes me laugh because he’s like a cartoon character lol, but the only songs that I like from him are the ones where he takes the time to actually write something thought-provoking like that song about Katrina with Robin Thicke.

Those are all “relevant” artist going by your train of thought. I’d rather listen to songs like “Point of No Return” by Immortal Technique, “The Day” by the Roots ft. Blu & Phonte, “Streets On Fire” by Lupe Fiasco, & “Poet Laureate II” by Canibus because they engage me on an intellectual level. I’m not a fan at all of trap music, music that’s disrespectful to women, gratuitous gangsta music, etc. so if that makes me a “Hip-Hop internet head” I’ll wear that label proudly.

      5. First off, I give you props for writing back an intelligent response rather than the usual “fuck you bitch” from others on hiphopdx.

I hear where your coming from though. For me though, it’s not just relevent as far as sales, but really what are any of those guys doing period? What turns me off about rappers like Rass Kass and Monche is their albums being pushed off for years and then being underwhelming. Basically, it’s to hard to be an underground rap fan, too much waiting, not enough delivery, like being a Redskins fan. I mean really, when was rip the jacker (his best album by far to me) released 6,7 years ago? It’s so hard to be a fan of people that go MIA either in reality or artisticly.

      6. WOW, a decent regular convo about hiphop on this site. Strang how rare this is on a site supposed to be about hip hop. Respect for having opposing views without calling each other gay, dicksucker etc.

      7. Hahaha yeah I’m all about having an intelligent conversation about hip-hop. All that name-calling is what usually keeps me away from the forums.

I hear what you’re saying, but I think it also has to do with the fact that people don’t hear about these albums when they do come out. For instance, with Canibus, did you know that he has put out “For Whom The Beat Tolls”, “Cloak & Dagger”, and “Melatonin Magik” since Rip the Jacker came out in ’04? He also has “C of Tranquility” coming out on 10/5/10, “Lyrical Law” coming out (featuring Ras Kass, Chino XL, Immortal Technique and more) in December, “Paranoid Chillin” coming out with Presto, Sick Sense, and Price EA, and the HRSMN album with Ras, Killah Priest and Kurupt in 2011. “Undergods” with Canibus & Keith Murray is supposed to be out soon too. Ras just came out with A.D.I.D.A.S. a month or two ago, Pharoahe Monch has an album coming out in Oct…I mean, they have been putting out some really good music lately…it just gets no press. I’d rather wait for the good then deal with the shitty, y’know?

    12. lupe is the best
his work is much more than just music
“i’m telling your story where ever i perform” LUPEEEEE

    13. I love Lupe, but beat kinda puts me to sleep. Food and Liqour and The Cool are the best two releases in a row for a new artist. I hope it’s not a “Junior Curse” coming.

      1. the beat puts you to sleep?
lol dude look at the title of the track.

Anyway, I would pick Food&Liquor and The Cool over College Dropout and Late Registration, Lupe’s just my boi!

    14. big Lupe fan, and this was a good jam, but uh 1 question… food and liquor 2? lol what happened to LAZERS???? i was waiting for that album for like a year!!!???? ugh =/

      1. Food&Liquor2 is his next album after “Lasers”. Looks like it’s almost done and according to Wik, will be released later this year after Lasers too!!!!
        Fuck Yeah!

        Get Ready World, LUPE”S COMING!

      2. apparently he’s not waiting around for Atlantic to give Lasers the OK. so he’s starting on his next one

    15. Despite the current state of the rap game we clearly still have some diamonds in the rough. Young Lu is back his next album is a must have.

    16. Chicago has done more for preserving the “art” of rapping, while maintaining “commercial” appeal than any other city. Just look at the list: Lupe, Kanye, Common, and Twista. We stay in our lane and stay real to us without hating on how other people do their thing. U should honor that!!!!

    17. Lupe Fiasco is a brilliant rapper. There’s not many out there that can do what he does, and he inspires me to write better. I even like the chorus on this one too, can’t wait for… Food & Liquor 2? What happened to Lasers?

    18. ima big lupe fan so i kno he can say some shit i mite not get at first but dis whole song just went ova my head or it was way to simple like basic metaphors and shit like dat

    19. I love how i have to listen to this song like 10 times before i figure out what its about. Lupe keep bangin these hits man.

    20. Lupe has murdered another track. This guy is easily one of the best lyricists in the game.It takes several listens to get all of the metaphors and lyrical gymnastics in his verses.

    21. I’m feeling this and just like everyone else, Im anticipating this album. I hope I will hear the intense flow of some F&L.

      Look for us on Facebook

    22. easily best NICEST rapper in the game without a doubt. why even argue against that? he can easily just rap however he wants something about him just lures you in music it must be the flow..

    23. when lupe gets a dope beat like this.. its str8 fire. other rappers should be ashamed of their lyrics when they hear this nigga

    24. Always enjoy something from Lupe. I don’t mean to seem like a dick rider, but I do get excited when I see he releases a new album. Can’t wait for Lasers if it ever comes out

    25. Gettin’ up and goin’ hard. I don’t need no enzyte.

Lupe is the greatest. Lasers needs to come out. Wish I could pirate it and then just donate the money to Lupe because I don’t want his bullshit label to get anything.

    26. Lupe does it so effortlessly, quite scary actually how well he can write his music, dare I say he can surpass Nas and Em as the mightiest with the pen??? Time will tell….

      1. Just to be mentioned with their names is probably good enough for Lupe. However, overtime there is little doubt that Lupe could be #1.

    27. AYO REAL SHIT RIHGT HERE FOREAL LUPE IS THAT NIGGA HIP HOP TO THE FULLEST

@Anonymous:I FEEL U SON FUCK THEM NIGGAS PUT EFFORT INTO UR MUSIC OR DONT DO IT AT ALL POINT BLANK

    28. it’s impossible to find a hater of Lupe. cause he is indisputably one of the realest, greatest rappers consistently today. My all time favorite, just a tad bit behind Eminem. And thats only cause Em’s made 7 albums. Lupe’s not far behind with just 2. Amazing, simply amazing.

    29. Can we get that Lasers before we start talking Food & Liquor 2. Anyway what is up with this sequel trend? AZ and even Snoop doing a sequel.

Anyway the track is hot…what’s the bet that it will never make the album?

    30. Calling All HIP HOP & R&B ARTIST!!!!! Need beats??

Take a listen and lease my beats at Soundclick . com / whyesproductions

whYes Productions_ IF YOU DON’T GRIND, YOU DON’T SHINE!

      1. I have to disagree with both… Flow is as sick as ever, and unchanged. Food & Liquor flow. But yeah this is a definitive radio hit, if he had an album out to represent

      2. What are you guys talking about? What is commercial about this track? This track would fail so hard as a radio single…these lyrics go over the head of anyone who is a fan of “radio hip hop”.

    31. 1st off fuck Atlantic Records… how could you procrastinate the release of his album? This shit is tight. Good Night.

    32. Lupe is one of those artists that makes you think twice about ever even trying to write raps.

Deep lyrics, nice flow. Pretty tough to create anything on the level of cats like fiasco, cole, ortiz, buddens, etc.

    33. Track has a fire beat, but what makes the track sound so good is lupe’s flow and great delivery along with the amazing lyricism displayed by lupe make this bada** track

    34. this is great his flow never changed…. and if he did go commercial he would been doing soulja boy wack shit… but this is real hiphop that does not get radio play..

    35. cant stop lisenin to this, the content of the song is sick,Fill this bitch up with fans you still won’t blow my candle
Out my can do spirit’s in the house
And it’s possessing your possessions did you hear it by the couch?

    36. Basically, if you don’t think Lupe Fiasco is the best lyricist in the game and probably to ever have lived, you’re missing something. Go listen to “Failure”, “Mean & Vicious”, and “Lupe the Killer” and tell me what you understand from it after 1, 2, even 10 listens. And people say o all he can do is metaphors and wordplay and stuff, while Nas can paint pictures or whatever…LUPE CAN DO THAT TOO! Lupe has a song out in every lyrical style you can possibly imagine, which is also what makes him the greatest.

    37. umm yea.lupe is cool.thts it.i dont really c wuts the big deal bout em.he got sum cuts, but, his style jus borin 2 ME.remind of KUDI.they jus be talkn on random thoughts tht mak it sound tite.sum sht b goin TOO far ova my head.

      i stay tuned 2 currenSy,brand deShay,jCole,n WIZ.n of course the greats(J,FAb,Cass, etc.)thts who i bump. cant get jiggy wit ths borin sht.Sorrryyy

      1. he’s a bit too intelligent for you is all that means.

he isn’t gonna dumb it down for the people who don’t understand. that’s why he is the greatest.

don’t get me wrong, i like Wiz and J.Cole, too, but Lupe is far and away the best out there right now.

      2. That list of people your getting jiggy with is beyond trash, I can see your evident lack of Hip Hop Knowledge by comparing Lupe to Kudi, also try to sound like you have a bit of sense when you write something.

    38. Wow there are some LUPE STANS on this song haha. But Lupe is verrry dope, and takes pride in his extended metaphors..but now. He’s dumbing it down too hard
