      1. yea ur definitely a white person. i had to look up modest mouse “float on” on youtube just to find out wat the fuck u were talkin bout

    1. It took me 5 listens but I finally got into it. Technically, thats a good thing because most of the popular shit on radio takes that many listens to make the shit catchy. Unfortunately, it should never take me 5 listens to feel Lupe. But as long as Atlantic, licenses it to a couple movies and tv commercials and makes it a pop success, I’m happy with the message in the music and its appeal…4 out of 5…Dear Atlantic, if you have brains, you will follow it with a VERY urban remix. Complete it with a new beat, Drake, J.Cole and Weezy…and since its my idea let me shoot the video HAHAHAHA

    2. I gave it a 5 simply because it was Lu but its really about a 4. not wat i expected at all but his lyrics r still there and i love how he disrespecting the label on something they agreed to put out lol

    3. Aight calm down guys…its not that good. Its way too simple for Lupe. I dont mind him using a catchy “mainstream” beat but at least go hard on the lyrics. I’m always disappointed when I hear a Lupe song and understand everything with just one listen…it used to take me months for some of the songs on his mixtapes. I just hope he doesn’t dumb down rest of the the album.

      1. I was thinking the same thing! But if the simpletons are ever going to get into Lupe like us real Lupe fans then this song will go along way. It might give Lupe a commercial lane to push something creative between all the Soulja Boy and Flocka and other popular less lyrical material thats making money right now!

      2. It’s for the radio man. You have to put out a moneymake for the first single of an album. This will be the most dumbed down song he puts out for LASERS. Recognize real and enjoy greatness. You’re making yourself look retarded.

      3. You fucking want Lasers or not? Well this is the price you have to play. Granted these are not his “deepest” lyrics but they got more substance than any other shit they play on the radio. Quit complaining nothing else is getting dumbed down…this is a Lupe album remember??

      4. I understand all that but its still not his best effort. I mean why couldn’t he make something like “Carrera Lu.”
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n3FH4HIrxU

See that’s the kind of Lupe pop song I could get behind. To me you either make a hot pop song or make a completely different conscious record. You dont try to mix em both up and put this out.

      5. ummmm maybe its that way cuz the album is called lazers and has NOTHING to do with Carrera Lu. if its one thing you can say bout Lupe it’s that he’s very diverse in his artistry…as deep as every song can be, it don’t need to be. and as pop as a song can be, it don’t have to be…why does each one of his songs have to be the same? why does each album have to be like its predecessor? its a song…let’s try not to think too deep into it and let it be simply that.

the joint is not “i’m beaming” or “shining down”…when compared to the two this should be a pretty good album isA

    4. Garbage… I like Lupe alot and this is just disappointing. Plus he ruined the Modest Mouse beat.

He’s capable of much better and that’s the only reason I give this one star. Yes he’s gotta make that catchy single, but I hope the rest of the album is vintage mind bending Fiasco..

      LUPE!!! I gotta beat I KNOW you’ll kill… Several in fact… Chicago’s finest

      1. fk off 1 star. whether he wnats to or not he has to put out mainstream shit or else his album wont get pushed so hes doing his best hater eat a big one this shits hot mainstream or not he touches on everything regardless

      2. thats why u gave it one star? LOL u make it sound like ur doin him a favor. Listen to the second and third verses carefully man theyre great

      3. This is just a radio song, all the good artists who want to sell moderately well in this day and age have that one song on their CD that sucks comparatively speaking, anyway

      4. @ hiphopfan27: I’m not dissing the message, but his verses are waaaayyy too simple. there’s simple, and there’s way too simple. And I’m not doing him a favor, I’m just saying as a side note that I do have a couple beats that fit him. I swear that whenever I play them, people always say “I can hear Lupe spitting on this”.

@ bro: I know it’s just a radio song, thats why I said I hope the rest of his album is going to be better than this.

    5. I guess Atlantic won. They got their radio-friendly first single. It’s dope for a pop song but that’s all it is, a pop song.

But whatever, if this is the price for getting Lasers put out, then so be it.

    6. FUCK THE HATE, LUPE HAS BEEN DROPPING REAL RAPS SONGS FOR YEARS NOW WITH NOT MUCH RADIO PLAY BUT THIS SONG IS GOING TO BE A MASSIVE HIT NO DOUBT… FNF UP!

    7. I understand Atlantic needed a single they could make money off of but this is just not it. I doubt it would even do that well on the charts. This song is just confusing to me. Its a pop song with a hot beat and a catchy chorus but with personal semi-conscious lyrics? I dont get it. I mean if you’re gonna make a pop song then go all out and make a proper pop song. Something with a catchy flow and couple hot lines thats just fun to sing and dance along to. With this he tried to please both his fan base and the label heads and I just dont think it worked out. Its too simple and contrived for true Lupe fans and not poppy enough for the mainstream radio fans. It just falls into this weird middle ground.

      1. interesting analysis. Superstar got pretty big though. i think this has potential. you can definitely tell that this was one of the ones Atlantic made him do. either way, i love this song. well worth the wait

      2. I think you are completely right. I love Lupe but this ain’t his tightest work. The sample is weird. He sounds weird over the hook. Sounds like some B.o.B. shit. Anyways, I’ll still cop it, but I agree with you, NRG

      3. It doesn’t! That was my whole point. Atlantic wanted a pop single to sell records and he just gave them a watered down conscious song. Which I don’t understand. Either make a hot pop song which is fun to listen to or make a deep conscious record that you can really ponder over. And he is capable of both. Like “Carrera Lu” is a hot pop song and “Glory” is a dope conscious record. So I know he can do and it just pisses me off when he keeps putting out this BS. The only time he got it perfect with mixing both arts was “Conflict Diamonds” but even that was successful because of the lyrics. Not shit like “if you’re my home boy, you never have to pay me.” Lol I never thought I would hear Lupe say shit like that in a song. He used to craft each line and each word so poetically. Now all we get is this bull shit.

      4. stop tryin to label shit b, pop, rap, a good song is a goodsong, who gives a fuck what category u try to put it into, thats for the record labels and charts

    8. damn dude cant win with you haters. The mssage is still positive, he just made it for everyone to understand. You understand this is his job? Dude gotta eat man.

    9. Ppl kill me with making a pop song is so horrible, even if the song is good. It’s like if its pop its automatically bad. With that said I understand why ppl think that way because MOST (not all) pop artist have no talent, especially in hip hop. But this is Lupe, even his pop songs have substance

    11. lupe wack ue bit off modest mouse “float on” know yall music faggot stans…plus its not even a good mix smh lazers is gon be trash

    12. I’m convinced that if you’re hating on Lupe, its because he is above your level. Lupe elevates this generation of music. Period.
What is the sample from? Passion pit?
I this this song is fantastic. #LAZERS.

    13. HOLY SHIT! Great song! If this song doesn’t make it to the top 20 on the charts then I’ve lost all hope in the music industry. This song is as good as any Eminem single this year and it should be a hit. Dope dope dope. Lupe is the shit.

    14. It’s BETTER than any Eminem single this year. Lupe is on that positive kick on this jam just like Not Afraid.

      1. I like lupe but your an idiot. To even compare him to Eminem is insulting, even more when you say lupe better than him. stop talking through hate and actually take in eminem, garantee ull change your mind.

      2. Eminem Hasn’t come out with a song better than this since the Eminem Show. Relapse/Recovery are both rap albums made to make money. Eminem has changed from one of the god father MC’s of hiphop to another mainstream lyricless artist. Lupe is one of the few rappers out there thats still making Hiphop music.
Song is Fire, Modest mouse Sample is Fire, Flow is always fire. Thank you lupe the game is on your shoulders.

      3. I almost agree with you but I can’t decide if I like this more or “Talkin’ 2 Myself” which was the only song I was REALLY digging on Recovery… it’s close… but if you mean just singles like Not Afraid, Love the Way You Lie, etc. then yeah I totally agree.

      4. god father of MC’s…rofl. eminem turned into a funnyass white rapper who didnt give a fuck and spit his heart out on every track to caring what people thought about him. that is what recovery is.

    15. not really on the flow, lyrics on point like always, beats on point, hopefully it gets radio play so this can make a serious dent in hip hop.

    17. I FUCKING LOVE LUPE FIASCO….

but this track is wack. They beat and hook come from Modest Mouse song Float On. When you compare the two songs this one fucking blows. And I cant listen to this song without hearing that one.

The hook is forced and too fast…

this track fucking sucks. c’mon Lupe

    18. I love lupe fiasco but im not feeling this track. 3/5 only because his lyrics were on point. Maybe it’s the beats and hooks?

    19. Solid 4. It’s not that I’m surprised by the effusive Lupe love on DX, but this isn’t a near-classic that the aggregate user rating indicates.

    20. Good Song a step up for Mr. Fiasco I like it not the best single but good start for a highly anticipated album

    21. see THIS is part of the POLITICS of Atlantic Records. This ain’t the LUPE we are all waiting for. This beat was produced by Kane Beatz who is signed to Mike Caren who runs the urban arm of Atlantic. DOG! Stop with the POLITICS and let Lupe work with the people who have THE HEAT for him…not just Mike Caren trying to make sure HE make money off of Lupe.

      1. I read your comment, and applied his first verse to it! He’s basically saying F the politics they can’t control wtf he says

    22. This is forgettable. YOU DON”T RELEASE A SONG LIKE THIS until you’ve captured your audiance’s attention with something hard hitting, fun to dance too and lyrically dope. This song is beneaths Lupe’s talent.

Same problem with the homie, Jay Cole.

      1. I see your point but lets be real. If we want to ever hear Lazers he needs to make a couple comercial singles like this and I rather Lupe try to make a hit or two than wait another 3 years for his next album.

    23. i give it a 4 and a 1/2 ima huge lupe fan i have to say this doesn’t song like the lupe i’ve grown to love … the same lupe that had the best mixtape known to me (fer. 9/11) but the song is fire its message is very much clear and lyrics are not the best but enough to capture the ears of the real hip hop heads !!! much love lupe the killer we waiting on lasers

    24. (In an ED LOVER VOICE)C’MON SON what the f@ck is this g@y @ss music. No wonder Atlantic didn’t want this Lasers album. I for one have been puttin’ people on to Lu for a min. But I couldn’t tell if I just got Punk’d.

    25. Wow that trumpet melody really sounds like the one from “Right above it”. but both were produced by kane so w/e. good song, but i just hope he does something like “Emperors Soundtrack” on Lasers.

    26. I don’t know…Flows aint bad but this is some pop feel good music….I can hear B.O.B on the remix….not the lupe I was looking for. 1 point for ATLANTIC RECORDS

    27. Fuck is everybody complaining about? This is a good track, lyrically and beat wise. Just cause Lupe did “Emperor’s Soundtrack” don’t mean he can’t have fun. And lets be honest, he needs something like this as the first single, it might help him get the attention of those that been sleeping on him. Its like a bait.

So shut the fuck up and enjoy good music. Ain’t nothing wrong with this.

    28. I don’t hate it, I don’t like it though. Lupe needs to get on that “Failure” mode again. Real Lupe fans should agree.

      1. Word, ”Failure” was one of his best records. But this is a shitty pop song, you can tell the influence that Atlantic had on this song.

      1. Ya man, I was listening to “Changes” the other day by pac and it sounded like a complete ripoff of “Just the way it is” by Bruce Hornsby. This makes Lupe and Pac wack as fuck…and Eminem…Nas…damn I guess also Kanye, Rakim, Ghostface, Ice Cube, Dre…

      2. Please don’t post if you don’t know shit about hip hop. SMH Yeah sampeling has been mostly used to creat beats since the birth of hip hop you moron. DJ Premire would slap you silly.

      3. I would like to know who your fav rapper is and I guarantee you I will expose their samples too…Get a life…Jackass!!! Find something with more substance to critique…smh…

      4. first of all RETARDS, its the melody of the hook and rhyme skeme that was stolen. Thats a HUGE difference from “sampling” im a hiphop fan at heart and an artist as well… yall are stupid… i got no problem with sampling, thats a beat thing, but stealing a rhyme skeme n melody is a whole nother story

    29. People need to chill the fuck out…Lupe doesn’t bring his metaphors to one song, BIG DEAL!!!This song lyrically tops any other song on the radio and the man goes harder than anybody in the game. WE ARE LASERS!

    30. A little to “poppy” for my taste but still an ok record…Better then most trash on the radio and it obviously has crossover appeal. Lupe wants that B.O.B money. Smart Man 3/5

    31. This song is pretty mean, but the beat/hook is pretty much all atlantic… Hope there are tracks like “The Coolest” on the album, back to the lyrics, back to the real Lu. Nice song though just real mainstream for Lupe.

    32. I THINK WIZ KHALIFA WROTE IT CUZ IT SOUND LIKE WIZ KHALIFA N THIS DOESNT SOUND LIKE LUPE . U CAN EVEN HEAR TYLORS IN THE BUILDING WHEN THE SONG START

      1. what?..
        somebody writing for lupe???…
        hell up.!
        …………………..
Lupe got crazy bars & crazy styles…
he can switch it up whenever..
listen to lupe first 2 cds..
        ……………………
& wiz will never be a lupe..

    33. Decent lyrics by Lupe of course but the beat, the hook and just about err thing else has someelses fingerprint on it. Since when Lupe put out a song with a sing along chorus?!!! Thats more shit that trash artists like Wayne and Waka do to hide the fact that they aren’t that dope lyrically. I know he settled with his differences with Atlanta but if he had to go commercial in order to do it, they won!!

      1. yeah he that might not be, but if your favorite rapper is average, then I can already say that he is better. His mixtape Airborne alone is better than most albums that have came out this year.

    34. Every once in a while you get a song on here that truly feels inspirational and lifts ur spirits(without sounding corny), this is one of them! 5*!!!

    35. sounds so worked over to be “mainstream friendly” its disgusting. they put a gun to Lupes back and forced him to make this song. of course his lyrics are on point but CMONSON

    36. Interesting to see Lupe on a Kane beat. Lol it’s nice to see a Kane beat put to better use than “Steady Mobbin” and “Right Above It.” I hope Lasers has some deeper songs than this but this is nice for a single.

    37. Im a huge Lupe fan but this song is weak. Hopefully “Lasers” is fire cause this single is horrid. Please take it back to the first CD. “Kick Push”, I still run that song weekly.

    38. quit hating on the beat and sample, maybe if yall werent musically narrow minded you could appreciate the modest mouse sample, shits original and complements lupe. “its too maintstream” “its clearly not his work” “this is weak” get the fuck out with your weak comments, if you want some dirty underground nigg*r rap then why are you on a hip hop site

    39. This is a solid song. Glad to see people rating it well and giving credit when it’s due, unlike the complaining rats in the hiphop community that bitch about everything and label a song “horrid”(i.e. problem #1 in hiphop: nagging naggers/hiphopmusic snobs)

    40. I Doubted Him On The Direction Of Lasers. But That IS A GREAT MODEST MOUSE Sample. Kane is In the Building. Great Track

    41. I like it. It’s still Lupe except in a more 2010 version, but at least it kills 90% of hip hop on the radio right now. And Lupe’s probably the first rapper to give justice to a Kane Beatz production since Chamillionaire on Ultimate Victory. Kinda sad we have to wait all the way until March for the album but who knows? Maybe this song will do great on the charts and prompt Atlantic to push the release date forward like they did with B.o.B’s album.

      1. Completely agree with you man…he’s a good emcee, but there are others underground that MOST don’t know about that are better than him…for example DIABOLIC, CROOKED I (and the rest of slaughter for that matter), ELZHI, ONE BE LO, LOUIS LOGIC, JUICE (from chi and a LEGEND in my eyes) to name a few….this joint for example is average at best LYRICALLY

      2. Actually, lyrically, I don’t know anyone better. If he had better production, and if society understood his bars, he’d be considered better than Em. because lyrically, he is. If you disagree, you just can’t comprehend. lol
(Not to take anything away from Em)

      3. mayne you crazy no one can come close to lupe…he will murder any…ANY rapper out there so bad he will leave them goin to the dictionary to understand how gruesome they were killed

    42. lupe never gets flashy on you, he raps with an educated mind, no flashiness in his game….even on a radio filled beat he teaches you something, cut him a break he needs that cash too.

    43. This beat sounds like it was sampled from the song Float On by the band Modest Mouse. Love when good songs get sampled for beats.

      1. its debatable but hes DEFINITELY better than these pop stars *cough cough* i mean rappers that people blindly praise these days. him, j. cole and the dude who raps in chiddy bang are my favorite younger artists

    44. The show goes on. Love. Hope. Grace. Determined Victory. Even if they turn the lights out the show is gong on… Pop or not. The dude spreads the gospel of love and hope. And for that he will ALWAYS get a 5.

    45. lupe went against the devils hard b(atlantic) But after having his shit(lasers album) pushed back so many times,he bend down to them and they made him release this ,and will probably make him change half of his lyrics about the illuminati and freemasons exposing the nwo and all that shit he had on lasers, cuz the devils want you to be dumb’d down and not aware,if lupe gave a fuck he would have left for good but i guess he still wanna be a superstarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, there is no half-way heroes lupe

      1. wot the fuk u on about. he didn bow down 2 them, he fought against them wich caused him to release the album. n did u lisen 2 the lyrics. 2nd verse he disses atlantic records

      2. My god, you’re fucking stupid. Commercial = Illuminati. In fact, nothing anyone claims = Illuminati. Go kill yourself, it’s the only way to cure your stupidity.

    46. Real hip hop. Simple as that. A Story is being told, no one liners or childish metaphors. good job lupe.

check my stuff out on datpiff, type in “justin juice”, and follow me

    47. Lupe fiasco is very underrated because he always whats going on in this crazy world and his album might be a classic go lupe copping that like i got his first two classics

    48. Once again Lupe has bodied the track. Beautiful and Kane did his thing on the beat. WHY THE HELL WOULD A LABEL NOT PUT THIS OUT? WTF. This joint is a hit.

    49. Still don’t know why people underestimate dude…some of the most inspirational lyrics out there. Not just rhyming…there’s a message behind his words. Wake up!

    50. damn everytime i wanna doubt lupe and think hes gonna give into the illuminati, he proves me wrong, good for him! dude is the truth. one of the few successful mainstream artists still educating about THE TRUTH. keep it up! killuminati

      1. alright let me school you man. Lupe can never join the illuminati, you have to be born in it. BUT, that doesnt mean he cant be in one of the other evil fraternities thats ruining hiphop

      2. yh man, lupe cant be in illuminati, just like other rappers e.g kanye and jay z. u have to hav bloodline relationships to be in the illuminati. and lupe wont fall into that evil bulshit. hes too smart and a truth speaker

    51. great track, lupe called it his personal fav. really hopes he makes a video for this and its top 5 for a loooong time.

    52. I love float on by modest mouse so this song is fuckin awesome to me…. wonder what modest mouse thinks of it?

    53. I’ve been wanting to like this song and I’ve been listening to it alot but I just cant dot it. The beat and the chorus is catchy but the lyrics just arent there. There isnt even one line that you can point to and be like, “yo thats a hot line.” Even Kanye gives you at least couple hot lines a song. But whatever I hope it does well on the charts and we get the vintage lupe on the album.

    54. Never really ever head Lupe Fiasco never really was interested in listening to his music. decided wat the hell and turned it on. im glad i did this shit is hot.

    55. YESSIR. Mr. Fiasco got another hit. Hopefully this nets him a bunch of new fans, who can then check out the rest of his impressive catalog. We all know Lupe can spit some of the most complex lyrics EVER, but this shows he can make an inspirational hit for the hood. I would give it more stars if I could.

    56. GARBAGE!!! Where the hell is “Hurt Me Soul” “He Say/She Say” “Sunshine” The Coolest” “Paris Tokyo”? Huh? WTF is all this nonsense?!!

      1. If you want his old shit go buy his old album. Kinda like what Jay-Z said. This song is hot. True hip hop fans have to realize that artists arent going to make the same songs forever. And then when they do people complain that they want something new. If you are a real Lupe fan you would realize that this is classic inspirational Lupe.

    57. This shit goes hard….will be good to listen to with “I’m beaming”. I know he has to make the music more listener friendly (not that I had a problem with his old material) but he IS still Lupe. Positive brother. Thanks Mr. Fiasco.

      1. I agree with mr. I thought it was wack. He can do much better than this.

@ Richard: just because he doesnt like it doesnt mean hes a hater. Grow up

@hjggfty: Same goes for you. I didnt like it, and I listen to atmosphere,p.o.s.,blu,immortal technique,cubbiebear,wu-tang,mos def…point is..Shut the fuck up.

    59. Apparently his label put the record on ice because it was missing a radio single. Well this is as radio as it gets

    60. why would you sample the worst some modest mouse ever wrote when they have like 6 albums full of amazing guitar riffs and solos you could throw drums over??? i hated float on when it came out so i cant stand this shit

      1. Hahaha yeah man I know what your saying the have some dope shit, but I think he’s just trying to bring one of there more unierversal songs to a different genre. Nice track lu

    61. L.A.S.E.R.S!!!!! Finally Atlantic got off their BS… lol

I’m highly anticipating this release. Def willing to support artists like Lu, I can’t blame the man for trying to run up out the game.

      1. you quite clearly know absolutely fuck all about hip hop. lupe’s got talent. by ‘nerd rapper’ i think what you mean is he’s real. he doesn’t pretend to be a fuckin badman goin around telling people how many people he’s killed, when he hasn’t actually. i swear down gucci mane is genuinely fucking shit, it’s people like him who killed hip hop.

    62. i am SO APPALLED at this song.
      1. i hate the stupid sparkly ass POP BEAT, reminds of the dark days of “live your life” by TI on the radio every five minutes.
      2. lupe spits as usually but this is NOT his sound usually.
      3. judging by this being his 1st single of the new album i am now 100% convinced he signed that 360 and lied on twitter like dis nigga got his damn way! im ssooo disappointed this gets like 1 star !

      1. yur right but u gotta do wat u gotta do to make money these days,,lupe aint changin his spit for nothin but he might hav to rap on sum new ishh ya feel mee?

    63. damn this shit is hot i hope the whole album aint like this cuz its kinda poppy but if this can be just the first single and the rest is great hip hop were lookin at a classic. five stars

    64. Pretty good track. Lupe’s been on this train for a while. It was a matter of time before his sound become more poppy. Look at Superstar!

    65. Nice Pop feel to it I can picture hearing this on Radio it’s a very positive song Lupe is a great artist I own both Food & Liquor and The Cool both get heavy play in my car im a true Lupe fan

      1. Go check his music before those releases,”Revenge of the Nerds” and “Fahrenheit 1/15”

The earliest Lupe is the dopest in my opinion

    66. you know it took him like 1 or 2 days to make this sick ass song. i feel like why doesnt he drop a couple of these a week??? it seems like his music gets locked up, he needs more exposure, i love lupe, i wish he would drop more shit. have to give this a 5 for burnin soulja’s pussy ass, he’s the laughing stalk of hip hop for the month.

    67. all i have to say is thank u lupe!!! thank u for never bein an industry rapper and just bein ur god damn self.. ur the fuckin man.

      1. uh this is a fucking song that the industry made his ass do…are you serious, this is the most commercial lupe shit ever, i am sickened with this nigga on one hand and on the other i guess he had to do what he had to do so fuck it

      2. @illness_personified

i can agree and disagree with you , you cant say this shit is industry cause while i listening i didnt hear any line about women/money/cars/clubs you know the industry shit , but it aint classical lupe yet its still a good ass song .. gotta see it from both views

        keep it real

    68. great song, but he definitely took the guitar riff and based the whole chorus off of Modest Mouse’s song Float On.
