I almost got the chance to meet Capone right after he got out of the joint…he and Noreaga were going to do a show in Kaiserslautern, Germany that I was doing. But, unfortunately he couldn’t get a passport in time and Noreaga had to come and perform alone.

Since then I have always paid attention to that particular camp. Capone and his former partner in rhyme have been the type of MCs who fly below the radar…though they have a large following mainly acquired by the street smash that The War Report was…soon came the singles Closer and T.O.N.Y. (Top of New York) and 2000’s The Reunion. After much drama that’s too much to mention…some of which was the reason for the aforementioned “no show”, Capone is back…alas without Nore.

On his new album, Capone: Pain, Time & Glory he has enough with the 20 tracks to satisfy many who pick it up and are looking for pure thug..straight to the jugglar ridah Hip Hop.

With appearances by the incarcerated C-Murder & Bun B, who seems to be errywhere with his Free Pimp C campaign…the two southern MCs bless the mic on Where The Stuff At, the 1st Boss of the south, Scarface appears on No Where To Run. The amps get turned up and lyrical slashing takes place as Devin The Dude and Butch Cassidy break it down on I’m Gone and Crack Muzik is a special joint featuring Black Militia….and the chef, Raekwon throws his style into the mix along with sous chef Peedi Crakk on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Production appearances by The Heatmakerz, Screwface, Roots, Nexxus Ent, DJ Absolut, Freedo, Reefa, Twinz and SPK this is the CD that fans have been looking for. After being somewhat in the shadow of the superthug, Capone represents with this well-crafted eastcoast gangsta album. This is an album for parking lot pimpin, a lil rollage of herbage and hollin’ at honeys…a defined eastcoast Hip Hop album with a bit of southern dusting.
