The man the brought you recent classics like Nan and Shut Up has returned to Hip Hop spotlight to spread his unorthodox
Florida sound. Trick Daddy,
Miami-based lyricist drops Thug Are Us,
which the performer’s third release from the land of Booty Music.

Thug Are Us is an extension from Trick‘s previous successes.
Entertaining listeners with his version of sexual innuendo, government exploitation
and professing his pimp vibrato. The noticeable new formula in the arsenal of Trick Daddy would be his talented
entourage, his Slip-N-Slide crew
consisting of: Deuce Poppi, Trina, Tre + 6 and Kase. This
new release is a mere showcase of his surrounding core performers. Trick Daddy is widely obscure
throughout the album; however it does not present a downfall to his recent
release.
The Slip-N-Slide
faithful highlight their release with their signature booty shaking sound and
Dirty South delivery. Beating up the mic, with some sweat laden club cuts, like
the hit single Take It to Da House
and the remix to the booty music anthem Pull
Over
.

Beyond the obvious sex infested liaisons, a few intriguing subjects appear
throughout album. The track to keep a wrap on would be I’m a Thug which features a chorus line of adolescent choir
members, similar to R. Kelly‘s I Wish.

To every experimental album there is always a noticeable downside. This features
lackluster tracks like Noodle and 99 Problems that fall short to capture
the same intensity of other cuts of the album. In addition, the intro and skits
are beyond pathetic to say the least. This leads me to believe that the
production was not on point in all directions. Add the fact that Trick Daddy merely cameos his own
album, this makes for a rather odd supposed solo release.

If you’re enticed by sexual references and bass music, Thug Are Us should find its way into
your immediate musical collection. Trick
Daddy
definitely displays a great ability to promote his crew and the
progression of their talents.
