Young Thug regrets accepting a plea deal in his YSL RICO case, according to his lawyer Keith Adams.
Adams, who represented Thug alongside Brian Steel and others in the lengthy and controversial trial, appeared on YouTube channel TheFitLawyerATL on Thursday (December 5) to talk about the case now that it’s finally over.

Asked about Thugger’s reaction to the two remaining defendants, Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell, being acquitted of all charges (with the exception of a gun charge for Stillwell) and walking free, the attorney said: “Jeffery [Young Thug] called me about five minutes after that verdict came down […] His reaction was twofold.
“He was happy for [Gotti] and for Stillwell. Very happy. He was happy that they’re coming home. There was a part of him I think that was thinking, We probably should have gone all the way ’cause we would have been walking out of there with a not guilty verdict as well.

“I agree, we would have. And we wanted to. There came a point where Jeffery made a decision to enter that plea and go home that day, and he did. So his reaction, he was happy for them [but] there was a little bit of regret on his part.”
Adams added: “But overall, he’s still doing great. He’s happy to be home. He’s out in L.A. He’s doing just fine and he’s gonna be doing just fine.”
Young Thug was released from jail on October 31 after accepting a plea deal, which resulted in him being sentenced to time served and 15 years’ probation which comes with numerous strict conditions.
The YSL rapper is banned from the Metro Atlanta area for 10 years, unable to make gang references in his music and prohibited from contacting any of his co-defendants other than his brother Quantavious “Unfoonk” Grier and Gunna, who is, of course, signed to his label.

He must also submit to random drug tests, deliver anti-gang and anti-gun violence presentations in schools and complete 100 hours of community service during each year of his probation.
If a judge rules that he has violated any of these conditions, Thug will serve 20 years of “backloaded” prison time, meaning he is essentially walking a legal tightrope until 2039.
Meanwhile, Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell were released from jail with no such requirements after being found not guilty earlier this week, bringing the long-running trial to an end.
Gotti, who is also a rapper signed to YSL, was acquitted of all charges, including murder. Stillwell was cleared of all charges except for possession of a firearm and was sentenced to time served.

Given that several jurors who oversaw the trial have since spoken out in support of Young Thug, the rapper may have been better served waiting a month as a not guilty verdict would have freed him of any obligations to the state.
It’s worth noting, however, that if Thug were to have been convicted, he would have likely been given a prison sentence much longer than 20 years.
