Young Chop On High School & College: “It’s Not For Everybody”

Young Chop, who gained notoriety and success while he was still in high school, says he dropped out a few credits short of a diploma. Why?

“I moved to L.A.,” Young Chop says in an interview with VladTV. “I stayed there for like a year. So, I’m like, ‘Man, it is what it is with that shit.’ I found out that school really is not…I don’t want to put no bad image on it…But school wasn’t really for me. It’s not for everybody. That shit is not for everybody, bro. I’m telling you…I got a couple friends that went to college and dropped out of that shit because…it wasn’t meant for them. That shit ain’t for everybody.”

Despite saying that it isn’t for everybody, Chop says he understands some of the perks that come with education.

“School really taught me a lot of shit, though,” he says. “But as I got older, like 18, I was like, ‘This shit irritating. Why I’m still at this shit? That shit ain’t for me.’ Then, at the time, I was getting hot, too. Money started coming in.”

Chop says he wanted to make beats during the day and sell them during the evening, so he looked at school as an obstacle in the process. “I was like, ‘Man, fuck this shit,'” he adds.

Chop, who is close to his mother, says she didn’t know he’d be dropping out until after he did.

“I never told her that shit,” he explains. “I just did it. She was like, ‘So you ain’t gonna go back to school, huh?’ I was like, ‘Hell nah.’ Eventually, I will go back to get my shit, GED, or some shit like that. I need to hurry up before it’s too late, though. I need to start doing that shit now, now that I think about it, now that I’m good, financially.”

    1. It couldn’t make them happier than having a talented kid who’s too stupid to manage his own finances or review his own contracts in the game.

You can’t get (or stay) rich if you can’t grasp basic accounting principles. And you need way more than a GED to make that happen.

      1. If by “way more” you mean “common sense” then I’m with you. It’s called an accountant. I’m sure he has one.

      2. Start working from your home and make $90/h… Only basic computer skills needed and reliable internet connection… Get your first weekly check at the end of this week… Stop wasting time and start now… Sign up at following address………….. http://www.WorkTahi.Com

LMAO fat nigga you was supposed to be graduated or graduating at 18 unless you were dumb as fuck

    3. I agree about college not being for everybody. But high school though. He sounds ignorant as hell and sending the wrong message.

    4. But what Young Chop fails to realize is that not everyone is going to have the opportunity to be there own boss or an entrepreneur. He is fortunate to be blessed with the ability to make beats and got the right connections in the game to get his beats out to the right people. That ain’t going to happen for everybody. And if you have nothing to fall back on you’re fucked lol. I agree College isn’t for everybody. It’s a good tool to get real world knowledge, it’s a tool to meet people and a tool to get a Degree to open doors to good careers but It isn’t/won’t work for everyone. But I do think one should at least finish high school or get you G.E.D. The thing about College is you can always go there at any point in your life. But in general so many youth lack a lot of education or any trade skills, when they get older and out into the pit a.k.a the real world they are going to need all the knowledge they can get. Everybody ain’t gonna be a rapper, everybody ain’t gonna make beats and everybody ain’t gonna be an entrepreneur, Some people will but for everyone else getting an education is a solid start. Not saying school teaches everything (they don’t) but one can learn on there own via the internet or reading books. But that’s all, sorry for the rant lol.

    5. He sounds like that Busta Rhymes character in Boondocks. .you Huey how u be reading them books and ish mad hard son…Chop can make a beat but that is like the 100 idiotic thing he said…I know some intelligent brothers from the Chi all over 30 and they would cringe to hear this especially the high school comment from this dumb mf…that’s why they shooting each other nobody wants to got to school. ..everybody wants to hustle and gang bang and then eventually go to jail and or end up on drugs..vs going to school challenge ourselves and better our situation…sad..but as my teacher used to say …got mine..

    6. I can see what he means. However education IS for everyone – especially when it get’s tough. When you get to 30 you realize the high school drop outs are working factory jobs and the College/University grads work higher quality jobs they enjoy. I think education is empowering for everyone.

      1. “education IS for everyone – especially when it get’s tough”

oh, the irony, the spelling class must have got really tough for you, brother…

(and English is my second language, in case you ask)

      2. Meanwhile in the REAL WORLD………

college grads are weighed down in debt, no jobs in their field and positions are sent overseas so they have no choice but work in a factory or an entry level job to survive.

        EDUCATE yourself

    7. LMAO young Chop you a clown and will be broke by 30, get ya education now you overweight pig before your trap beats go out of style lil ugly

    8. I make up to $90 an hour working from my home. My story is that I quit working at Walmart to work online and with a little effort I easily bring in around $40h to $86h Someone was good to me by sharing this link with me, so now i am hoping i could help someone else out there by sharing this link… Try it, you won’t regret it!…..

    9. Every nigga in the hood think he gonna be a ranked banger, rapper or athlete. So basically everyone says fuck it and only a few make it. But probability works against that shit, so it is what it is.

    10. this is sad, every other word is profanity, thats why these prison will forever be filled, and the morgue will never start carting young black males in there. Black males between the age of 16-24 are just organ donors. Those who co-sign this are destined for death or jail.
