Yo Gotti Restaurant Shooting Kills 2 People & Injures 5 Others

A shooting outside Yo Gotti‘s Prive restaurant in Memphis has reportedly left two people dead and several others injured.

According to the Memphis Police Department, shots rang out shortly after the restaurant closed its doors at 11 p.m. on Wednesday night (March 29).

In their statement, Memphis police explained that the shooting was a result of an altercation that took place inside the restaurant.

Two male victims have been pronounced dead — one of whom was found dead at the scene, and another who died from his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Five additional victims — four males and one female — were transported to hospital after being wounded in the shooting.

“On March 29, 2023 at 11:17 p.m. officers responded to a shooting outside 6980 Winchester,” the statement reads. “Two male victims were located. One was pronounced deceased on the scene and one was transported to [Regional One Health] critical where he was later pronounced deceased.”

It continues: “Five additional victims, four males and a female, arrived at area hospitals by [personally owned vehicles]. Prelim information indicates that the shooting stemmed from an altercation that started inside the club.”

Yo Gotti’s attorney, Arthur Horne, issued a statement to local Memphis news outlet WREG explaining that this is the first time an incident of this nature has happened at Prive.

Horne also pointed out that the shooting happened in the parking lot outside the restaurant.

“On behalf of Prive, they’ve been in business for 10 years, and nothing like this has ever happened at their establishment,” he said. “It happened out in the parking lot, and it ended up in a shootout.

“Nothing happened inside the restaurant. Despite any conflicting reports, they were closing, and this happened at the end of the evening in the parking lot.”

HipHopDX has reached out to Yo Gotti’s publicist for comment on the incident.

The fatal shooting comes just eight months after Memphis police thwarted a potential mass shooting at Yo Gotti’s Birthday Bash concert.

As Fox 13 Memphis reported at the time, a man threatened to kill numerous people at the concert after his girlfriend broke up with him.

Gotti took to Twitter to thank everyone involved in making sure the show went off safely without a hitch, including the Memphis Police Department.

“Thank you to the fans, artists and everyone involved behind the scenes for making Birthday Bash a smooth, secure and successful event,” the CMG mogul tweeted. “We were informed of a potential threat regarding an individual seeking to harm attendees leaving Birthday Bash that occurred 3 hours after our show ended.

“I would also like to thank the Memphis Police Department for their swift and proactive action in ensuring that all attendees returned home safely.”

    1. Wheres all the talk about “black owned” businesses ? Yall hype that term up so much, but then when a successful black man makes it a reality, his “community” brings hood drama to the establishment and the place goes to shit. Didnt something similar happen at another “black owned” resturaunt in Miami when French Montana did a video shoot ? How about Nipsey Hustle’s store ? Bun B take notes and hire some trill ass security for your burger joint. The hood doesnt respect when their own give back to the community like you might think.

      1. The masses shouldn’t be blamed for the Actions of a few trouble makers. But it usually happens that way. The majority respect and appreciate when celebrities etc do come back. As is stated in the article PRIVE been doing business for a Decade in the community before this incident. A couple of bad apples is not the collective community.

      2. We can also bring up the mass shootings that happen at white schools. Should we then close them all down?

      3. We should close down Chicago. More black on black shootings there in a year than there are mass shootings in the entire US during the same time frame. What do we ban in that sitch, my racist friend?

    2. This is why its hard for AA to own a business that’s successful in person none of this fashion or liquor stuff. Notice anyone who tries to get something with a building, add jobs to the areas usually gets shut down cause of drama from people within there own ethnicity yet cry about financial development. Between killing lack of motivation and always with drama AA is your own worst enemies.

    4. Yo Gotti was not involved in a shooting at a restaurant. Yes, I have read this story. I have read the story on two different sites and the headlines are misleading. I would also state the headlines and the coverage of this story is racially biased. Do you hear them call out the franchise owner of a McDonald’s if a person uses a firearm at or near their establishment? Leave Yo Gotti’s name out of it. It is a direct and indirect way to slander a Black entrepreneur/rapper/businessman’s name and brand. Wake up, people. WAKE UP! – Concerned Black Man

      1. You make a point , but most fast food franchisees are not famous , so the McDonald’s owners name wouldn’t grab headlines , also I did read this story on Fox News and they didn’t mention yo gotti , this trash site likes connecting crime to rappers so they can put the story here , take care
