YNW Melly‘s mother has let the rapper’s fans in on a heartfelt Christmas moment with her incarcerated son in a recent Instagram post.

Taking to her page on Tuesday (January 17), Jamie King shared a handwritten letter from Melly who was over the moon about a suprise appearance from his family outside the jail.

“Hey ma, damn y’all made my night my whole month,” Melly wrote with hearts. “So glad I seen y’all. I hope y’all seen me. I know y’all did right when you went screamin ‘I SEE HIM’ they made you leave. [annoyed face] I’m so glad I seen you ma! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Tell Grandma & Silas I love them and appreciate them so much. It was good to see them as well.

“Dang B Slime still looked tall from way down there lol,” he continued. “You looked so small lmao jumpin up and down when u seen me. I seen your smile from way up here! Lit da whole jail up! Even tho they tried to make it da worst, still you found a way to make it the BEST. I love you ma I’ma give you the world, Pluto and Mars when I get out. What u want da most too? Lol.”

The post also included a photo of Melly’s family while they were outside, holding signs that wished him a merry Christmas.

“I will always be here to make your darkest nights bright even if I have to bring the light to you son,” his mom wrote in the caption of the post. “I love you @ynwmelly so much my 1st born.”

This is not the first time his family “visited” Melly in this way. In 2020, his mother and girlfriend threw him a party outside of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida jail – complete with strippers, luxury vehicles, dollar bills and lots of twerking.

Melly has been behind bars since February 2019 when he was arrested in Miramar, Florida for the October 2018 double murder of fellow artists YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy. Another man, 20-year-old Cortlen Henry, was also taken into custody and charged with murder in the case.

Last month, Melly spoke out about the harsh conditions he’s allegedly been facing during his nearly three years there, alleging that he has been threatened and abused by jail staff.

“As of this moment today I am officially in fear of my life,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “A new Captain named Hubert and XO Jenkins have taken over the jail for two weeks now and have handed out even harsher punishments for me than the previous ones in place. Since December 1 I have been moved and housed on a unit that holds 24 inmates at once.

“I am the only inmate being housed on the vacant unit, with no phone privilege, no television and no access to a newspaper,” Melly added. “They are watching my every move on camera making sure I don’t use the phone to tell the world how I am being mistreated, discriminated, threatened physically, harassed. When I come out of my cell for the 1 hour a day, all other inmates in the adjoining dorms must go back in their cell. I am being subjected to cruel and unusual treatment at the hands of deputies and high-ranking staff of the Broward Sheriffs Office.

He continued: “I have been threatened by Deputies, Lieutenants and Sergeants that say ‘they will hide me from the world’ and threaten to ‘beat my ass everyday and if I tell my lawyers they will lie and say I hit them first.’ Words from Sergeant Anthony Kidd and Lieutenant Jean Baptiste. I have literally been hidden from the World so I have no other choice but to believe the next step is them beating 1/2 to death like they do to other inmates almost daily here at the main ail in Broward County.”

In a follow-up post, YNW Melly expanded on his phone privileges have being revoked and explained that he’s not even allowed to contact family members for the holidays.

“I cant call my family or lawyers to notify them if I have been beaten or harassed,” he captioned the second post. “They say my phone privileges are taken permanently because all of the infractions over the last seven months. THAT IS A LIE! They took my phone privileges indefinitely off of my 1″ violation for using another inmates pin to talk on the phone when I am not allowed to use the phone.”

A Florida appeals court ruled in November that YNW Melly could still face the death penalty in the double murder case if he’s convicted after the idea was previously taken off the table. He has maintained his innocence against the charges, and remains without an official trial date after it was once again delayed in July.
