The decision was confirmed in court by the prosecution after the judge asked if the rapper would be taking the witness stand.

The prosecutor replied: “At this juncture, we do not believe he will be testifying.”

Despite remaining on the state’s witness list, Lucci had previously refused to testify in the case.

The rapper’s attorney previously stated: “Any party can announce, for example, that Abraham Lincoln is on their witness list, but those words alone are meaningless. So, to be 100 percent clear, Rayshawn Bennett (YFN Lucci) will not be a witness in the YSL case.”

YFN Lucci became involved in the case after it was alleged that Young Thug ordered a hit on the rapper, who was stabbed in jail in 2022. Two YSL affiliates were allegedly behind the attack.

There were originally over 700 witnesses set to be called to the stand by the prosecution but that number has been whittled down on orders of the judge.

Lil Wayne and Thugger’s brother Unfook were also potential witnesses who had their names removed from the list.

Birdman could still be called to testify in the trial, while Thug’s former collaborator Rich Homie Quan has been subpoenaed by the prosecution.

According to social media user ThuggerDaily, Quan has previously given a police statement that will be read in court. However, he will not necessarily provide evidence against Thug during his turn on the witness stand.
