Xzibit Taps Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Redman & More For ‘Kingmaker’ Tracklist

Xzibit has unveiled the star-studded tracklist for his new album Kingmaker, his first in over a decade.

The follow-up to 2012’s Napalm, the 20-track project is set to arrive on May 16 and the former Pimp My Ride presenter has recruited some old friends for the ride.

There is also plenty of fresh blood with features from Ty Dolla $ign, Symba, JasonMartin (f.k.a. Problem), Domo Genesis and Guapdad 4000, among others.

Kingmaker is being released through Conor McGregor’s recently established label Greenback Records, which has also inked a deal with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

The album has previously undergone a number of delays, with Xzibit explaining on social media that the release date was pushed back due to him making some “last minute additions.”

X also previously spoke about the project and its lead single, “Play This At My Funeral,” with NME, saying: “It is a morbid title but I think ‘Play This At My Funeral’ has nothing to do with me dying. This is a snapshot of where I am mentally, physically, emotionally.

“Some finite statements are made in there. I think it’s really dope to be able to come back and show people where I am, what I’ve been doing, what I’ve done, so it answers a lot of questions.”

He added: “Music is what I do the best, naturally. I do a lot of other things — a lot of different films, a lot of different TV stuff — but music is the catalyst to what makes everything work. So, I felt the music had come to a point where it needed to come out.

“I’ve been working on music off-and-on for the last 10 to 12 years but I didn’t feel like it was what I needed to put out. I didn’t feel like it was different enough. [I was] able to hear something in myself that I hadn’t heard before, so it made it easy to know [it was time to release the music].”

    1. Restless and Man vs Machine were great records, hopefully he’s working with mostly the same crew for this project

      1. Listen to his first album, “at the speed of life”. It honestly destroys any work that followed, including any work priduce by Dre.

      2. Lyrically, sure. And a few great tunes overall that still play well today, but these guys are in the business of making music, not just isolated to what they have to say. It’s the total package and that’s largely what separated Dre at the time. He understood that more than a lot of people. Eminem has fallen victim to it too. Bars may be solid, but it’s gotta be a good song and I would argue that Restless and Man Vs. Machine had far better “songs” even though the lyrical content may have downgraded, which Xzibit has alluded to himself with the weed, bitches, money type rap he lost interest in and moved on from.

I’m stoked for this album. These old heads are blowing the new guys out of the water still and I’d rather rock a 50 year old Redman or Ice Cube than the shit we get now.

      1. nobody if that caliber releasing an album without a big check upfront stuff really dont sell 1M support an artist u like, maybe get a hit, same with bone, clean money a hit does return no hit tax write off

    2. King Tee discovered or should I say, put the Alcoholiks on, and Xzibit was aligned with them, that’s the affiliation, that’s my rap historical knowledge 🙂

    3. Eminem nowhere to be found. He still has sand in his vageena about Xzibit saying what he thinks of him. Even thou X apologized with tears in his eyes, Eminem is still in his feelings, like a vengeful woman, crying like a bish.
