This summer Wyclef announced his intentions to run for President of Haiti. Not long after, authorities claimed he was not eligible to run because he did not meet all the requirements. The Fugees frontman had planned on appealing the ruling but decided not to.
It looks as though this was only a temporary setback for ‘Clef, ABC reports that he plans on running for office in the 2015 elections. “I’m not a quitter, and the most important thing for me is, I think, to move Haiti forward, it’s gonna take modern thinking. So, if all goes well, I plan to definitely come back in five years and give it another shot.”
Wyclef was declared ineligible because Presidential candidates must have lived in Haiti within the past 5 years.
