Wyclef Jean Speaks Out About Trump Campaign’s Accusations About Haitian Immigrants

Wyclef Jean has issued a statement following Donald Trump’s baseless accusations about Haitian immigrants.

During his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this week, Trump shared a debunked conspiracy theory that Democrats are allowing small towns such as Springfield, Ohio to be overrun by Haitians immigrants who are, in turn, eating the pets of the people who were already living in those towns.

Talking to TMZ on Thursday (September 12), proud Haiti native Clef asked to put an immediate stop to the racism.

“I will be forever grateful for my family’s life, for having a fair chance to live what is called the ‘American Dream,'” he began. “One of our greatest assets in America is that we are a country of immigrants. I speak from the heart when I say, Haitian people living in the U.S. are good neighbors and good people. We care about humanity. We care about our neighbors.

He continued: “On behalf of Haitian Americans, I ask that we stop these racist messages and accusations. Put our hands out in peace and say thanks for being my neighbor. “We need to respect one another and vote based on policies and facts, not crazy talk. And we need to shake hands with one another and be thankful we are part of an America for all.”

Earlier this year, Wyclef Jean also got involved with advocating for basic rights when he teamed up with Fat Joe and Jelly Roll to push for clearer pricing in health care.

The three artists participated in an event at Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. in January put together by the organization Power to the Patients, which advocates for patients to see the “real hospital prices” for medical procedures.

In a statement about the event, Joe explained that keeping the healthcare system honest benefits everyone from patients and their families to healthcare workers and even the government.

“The U.S. healthcare system is America’s sickness,” he said. “Healthcare price transparency isn’t a partisan or complicated issue. It’s common sense. The only people opposed to it are healthcare industry interests profiting by keeping patients in the dark.”

He continued: “Clear prices allow consumers to choose affordable treatments without worrying that routine care will result in overcharges and even bankruptcy. Price transparency holds hospitals and insurance companies accountable, forcing them to compete and lowering costs, improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes.”

    1. What a milquetoast proposal. We don’t need to see how much we’re being ripped off by the healthcare system. We need Single Payer healthcare like every other advanced economy has.

      1. Advanced economies like Canada, where the average home cost is now OVER $1 million USD? You can look at other countries Healthcare. But don’t stop there. Look at their overall cost of living. Average home in USA is $355k. Still high, but triple that would be much much worse.

      2. @Dive Deeper America has a high cost of living too, ffs. At least those other countries get healthcare and affordable or free college so they can afford those expensive houses. By the way, the average cost for a house in Canada is around 700 grand. In America it’s 400 grand. So you’re conveniently highballing and lowballing to fit your narrative. Enough with the excuses. The reality is those countries don’t let corporations and rich folks rip them off like we do over here. We need to do the same.

      3. You’re about 300k over estimating the average cost of a house in Canada, which is 718k Canadian dollars or 529K USD. Their high cost have nothing to do w/ their healthcare. According to economist, Canada has greater barriers to entry for new construction: more urban containment, lengthier approval processes and costlier licensing. Any reduction in supply elevates the market price. So there’s that…..

      1. “Haitians eat cats” = racist? So it’s racist to point out the voodoo rituals in Haiti? Or the fact they eat dogs in China? Is an Indian racist to point out Americans eat cows? I’ve had enough of 3rd worlders being imported into USA.

      2. Saying they’re eating peoples pets when there is zero proof of it, is pretty racist. And if you point to the 911 operator call that some guy saw some Hattian people with geese in a park, according to the Springfield police, there has been no evidence of this outside of a random 911 phone call. A call which the guy didn’t know if they were young or old, but somehow knew they were Hattian.

      3. One thing I love pointing out is that your average commenter on these sites, are plain idi0ts. Eating cats have absolutely nothing to do with voodoo culture if you want to go that route. The point is they don’t eat cats at all clown. I implore you to get out more and learn about other cultures

    2. We need to export these losers ASAP. They’re literally killing people’s pets and killing birds at local parks like they’re hunting grounds. Cope harder. America was better off without all these pieces of shit.

    3. Growing up in South Florida I remember Jamaicans being teased and accused of eating cats until the Haitia

ns began to flow into South Florida. Nevertheless both candidates are subpar
