Wu-Tang Clan One-Off Album Sale Price Finally Revealed

Wu-Tang Clan‘s one-off album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, has finally had its official sale price revealed.

The unique project was originally purchased by controversial businessman Martin Shkreli for $2 million in 2015, however the album was later seized by the Department of Justice following Shkreli’s conviction for securities fraud three years later.

The DOJ would later sell the album to help satisfy Shkreli’s debts to a digital art and crypto collective known as PleasrDAO.

It was believed that the sale was for around $4 million, however a freedom of information request from Bloomberg, revealed the album was sold for exactly $2,238,482.30, the precise amount Shkreli still owed the government.

The Wu recently announced that they were getting back into the video game business.

The legendary rap group previously released Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style in 1999, a game that went on to become a cult classic.

Now they’ve announced a cooperative action RPG called Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver, which allows up to four players to join together to protect their home of Shaolin.

Over the course of the game, the player is required to find each member of the Wu-Tang Clan, all of whom have gone missing.

It has not been confirmed if any of the group will be playable characters.

The game is said to be a mix of Afro-surrealism and anime and is confirmed to have a soundtrack made up of Wu-Tang classics as well as new tracks produced by Just Blaze.

Rise of the Deceiver is also a tie in to RZA‘s horror film Angel of Dust which has been in development since 2019.

Ghostface Killah said in a statement: “Creating Angel of Dust has been an incredible journey. Bringing the story to life through film was just the beginning.

“Now, with the development of the video game, we are immersing fans even deeper into this supernatural thriller universe. It’s about blending music, storytelling, and interactive experience. I can’t wait for fans to step into the darkness and discover what lies beneath.”

A release date has not yet been announced but the game will be launched on PC before being released on consoles.
