Will Smith Resurfaces In Public For First Time Since Chris Rock Oscars Slap

Will Smith has been laying low since March 27, when he infamously slapped Chris Rock in the middle of the 94th Annual Academy Awards. Since then, the blockbuster movie star has resigned from the Academy, been banned from attending the Oscars for the next 10 years and publicly apologized to the legendary comedian.

But it looks like Smith is either getting back to work or simply embarking on much-needed vacation. The former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor touched down at a private airport in Mumbai, India earlier this week, although it’s unclear what he’s doing so far away from Hollywood. Paparazzi and fans alike were ready for him the moment he landed, shouting his name and asking for photos.

Several fans on Twitter drew their own conclusions and suggested Will Smith was in India on a spiritual retreat. As one person wrote, “Will Smith left India today. He came to India just to get an advice from his spiritual guru how he would control his anger before his anger controls him.”

Shortly after the “slap heard around the world” (as it’s been commonly referred to), Smith issued an apology on Instagram, writing, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

He concluded, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family,” he continued. “I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”

    1. Imagine being so rich you can take a flight to spend just a few hours in India to see your guru. Right or wrong Will Smith is still winning while yall motherfuckers keep bashing him on social media.

      1. Who’s this *We* you seem so eager to try to lean on? You speak for yourself alone. I was a near lifelong fan that grew up watching Will and listening to his music, but I lost all respect for him, in one night. So, again, you don’t speak for me and in assuming and saying *we*, you only make yourself look vacant and like some kind of a group-thinking sheep…
Sure you don’t wanna rethink that?

    2. so what big deal he hit chris rock. my god the amount of remorse a man has to show over just a slap on the face.

    3. I’m pulling for Will man, I’ve looked up to him since i was a shorty. For real, he dressed hiphop but not street, and that’s the perfect description of myself, he also brought humor into hip hop, but with DJ Jazzy Jeff on his side, making the music stick to it’s hip hop roots, it was the perfect combo for a kiddo like myself back then.

I am pulling for him because I always pull for the person who, in popular opinion, is “wrong”, without looking at all details of a person’s situation, what else is going on in their lives, etc.

    4. Aye, yeah, it’s no big deal. Suddenly just slapping someone heavily on their face in the middle of the Oscars over a little joke. You same clowns spouting this type of nonsense would not even be able to take a hit like Chris did. You all would be very angry if you got slapped like that, especially in public. In fact, y’all would likely cry. lol

      1. Little man, you got it all twisted. You’re the type of dude who runs around playing too much. You think it’s ok to say whatever little reckless shit to people because it’s just “jokes”. But your tiny brain can’t comprehend the fact that not everybody wants to play with you. Words have consequences. Someday, you’re going to say the wrong thing to the wrong person and get wrecked. We’ll see who’s crying then.

        1. You have the mentality and oversensitivity of an 8 year old if you think something like what Chris Rock said was that much of an offense that he deserved to get slapped during the Oscars. The ghetto trash and redneck mentality of displaying senseless violent temper tantrums for very minor things gets you either banned like babyboy Will Smith or arrested. Your kind is neither excused, accepted, nor welcomed in the general public and in reality.

    5. I am proud of will he stood up for his wife not many men do that i would also expect my husband to stand up for me if someone made a shtty joke about me it was not funny in anyway i mean how woulr chris have felt if someone made a joke like that. About his sick wife if i was jada i would have floored him myself before my husband even had a chance to im 100% behinde will

        1. Right… People claim to know better wait till you find yourself in his shoes and then we will know if could have done before, words are easier said than done.

          1. Wow, how awful! A joke! If I was in his shoes, just for someone making a mere joke about my wife, I wouldn’t resort to violence in the middle of an event like the Oscars. No normal person would. Y’all have as much mental issues and sensitivities as screwed up Will Smith.

      1. Anne-Marie I understand and agree with your comment but as a black man, I can’t tell you how many of my black brothers are in jail/prison or at the very least have charge of violence of their record because they felt that a physical altercation in front of their Boo, Babe, Chick, Shorty, Girlfriend or Wife was a sign of being their PROTECTOR. A real protector will only strike (physically) on behalf of their loved ones, when a physical threat is being waged. The smart thing to do is file a lawsuit in court the punish Chris Rock financially which sends a loud message to KEEP MY WIFES MF NAME OUT YO MOUTH. I believe Black Women should never accept violence from their man. Not to mention the little young boys will think violence solves everything.

      2. For sure he could of taken cris aside and explained how his wife is having a hard time dealing with this the slap was not called for I understand how his wife felt but they are friend and like I said it could of been better to handle the situation I after the Oscar’s where finished now will has hurt himself and their friendship won’t be the same I’m sure I hope they can all move past this best two the both of you god bless
