Wale: “I Want Black Lives To Matter To Black Lives More”

Wale recently spoke about his views towards the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States.

The Washington, D.C. rapper outlined his belief that the movement should focus on spreading love and respect for one another before blaming others.

“I want Black lives to matter to Black lives more,” Wale said during a recently published interview with REVOLT. “Modifying the moral of the people starts within. It starts with us. It’s been easy to just blame other people for stuff like that and point the finger, but Black lives should matter to Black lives.

“I don’t really care about trying to rally up people for the wrong reasons,” Wale added. “I want us to realize that the power that we got within ourselves and to love ourselves more is really the first objective as far as understanding the whole ‘Black lives’ thing. I don’t think we love ourselves enough as much as we used to.”

    1. Wales correct but a whole generation is mostly unaware of the social engineering constructed against African Amerikkkan unity. Though I see signs of hope with record sales of quality hip hop. BLM movement. Million man March reunion and hard economic times for the youth that will force a new awakening. Black on black love yall

      1. hiphop aint sellin shit… because of niggas like drake, west hiphop is dead. New generation is fucked up (well im 18 myself) and we need some changes

    2. I wish my people could understand this concept if thats happen then we will be a nation of millions and nothing can hold us back why try to say black lives matter we should show that black lives matters first of all we should boycott Michael Jordan and the Jordan brand as a whole and then go back 2 conscious rap

    3. Its hard to love yourself more when your own black president believes you need a ton of welfare and government assistance to survive.

    4. Black lives matter to me but there’s niggas around me that would kill me for my nice things more niggas around me than white or hispanic people would take my nice things. a nigga stole my iphone. a nigga stole my ipod. a nigga stole my niggas money. if niggas stopped stealing from each other more black lives would matter.

      1. Don’t disagree with you but the movement is not about that! It is authorities killing minorities… The race of black! They are to serve and protect black people to and kill them every chance they get! Black on black crime is a big problem. There is white on white crime as well please never forget that but never expose enough through the media. The media always show us so America can visualize us barbarians! Black people just fail to realize this attraction. A movement is better is better than anything at all. At least now the authorities know now they are eyed upon 24/7!

    5. Oh wale you miss the whole point of black lives matter. You’re saying that if black people care about each other more and respect each other more that will somehow trickle down to white people or specifically the police system and garner us the respect and treatment we deserve. This is respectability politics 101 and its bullsh#t. Modifying the behavior of how we’re treated as a people should not be our problem when they’re the ones vilifying us and mistreating us. Even several generations ago when we were more “respectable” wearing the right clothes and the black community was more put together than what is now we were still being mistreated. So nothing will change if all of a sudden black on black crime ceased or whatever reason others spout for the reason why we get treated as such. White people commit crimes and on record committed more mass murders than black people but no one arbitrarily attacks them and mistreats them or view them in a negative light like black people. Black lives matter and changing our behavior won’t make anything because there was never anything wrong with us to begin with. Yea there’s crime in our neighborhoods and we need to do better by each other but that’s a separate issue and has nothing to due with the systematic abuse and policing blacks face.
