Wale Debates Cutting His Dreads For Acting Role

One of the things Wale has been known for outside his rap skills is his trademark dreadlocks. He’s been growing them for some time now but is he ready to let them go just for a movie role?

On Sunday (May 1), Wale hopped on Twitter with that exact question when he let fans know he stumbled across a script that caught his eye, but the role calls for him to cut off his dreadlocks. A lock journey takes a lot of time and patience to get right, and Wale seems to be struggling with what he wants to do.

“I found a script I really really like ..but they want me to cut my hair,” Wale tweeted before posting a picture of himself with shorter hair and a caption that read, “I mean I’m still handsome.”

A fan decided to engage with Wale and post a picture of him from the mid-2000s at the MTV Video Music Awards, asking if the version of the rapper with no dreadlocks would still drop freestyles like he used to back in the day. Wale caught wind of the tweet and responded without really giving an answer.

“Short hair Folarin come w freestyles? Feel like it’s only right…,” tweeted the fan who had Wale say, “This the last time I smiled. Peep the sidekick tho.”

Wale will have a lot to think about regarding his next movie role, especially after he starred in Michael Bay’s Ambulance, which hit theaters last month. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Eiza González.

    1. Damn near every fool these days is rocking braids and then wondering why they eventually go bald. Not to mention the whole look is played out af. Not only does most rap these days lack originality, even in style these days all these goofy ass ninjas do is copy each other.

    2. Wale didnt star in Ambulance. He was in a couple of scenes and had maybe 2 minutes of dialogue where he plays the low IQ flunky for Jake Gylenhaal. His scenes were wack and his performance was average at best. Ijs

    3. Most underrated actor of all time. Can’t imagine Wale on a TV set won’t be any less annoying as Wale in the music industry crying all the time.
