Jim Jones recently insisted being a rapper is “more dangerous” than being a soldier in Iraq, bringing the ire of an Iraq war veteran. Evidently, Waka Flocka Flame feels simply saying rap is dangerous is more dangerous than rap itself.
On Thursday (February 27), the 33-year-old New Yorker shared his sentiments via Instagram and implored people to stop pushing out that notion.
“Please stop saying rap is dangerous,” he said. “Y’all niggas is falling into the trap. Because if Hip Hop is dangerous, they’re gonna stop booking shows … stop making Hip Hop popular. What are y’all doing, bro? Hip Hop ain’t dangerous … Hip Hop is beautiful, bro. To be a gangbanger in rap is dangerous. To be a drug dealer in rap is dangerous. To be anything that’s negative is dangerous.
“What the fuck y’all talkin’ bout, bro? Stop saying Hip Hop is dangerous. Y’all folks really about to cut your fuckin’ hustle out. Fool ass niggas, man. Y’all need to stop saying that shit. On god, bro.”
The Dipset MC’s sentiments has clearly opened the floor for a debate.
Throughout Hip Hop history, there have been several high profile murders — from Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G. and Jam Master Jay (all unsolved) to Nipsey Hussle, XXXTENTACION and — most recently — burgeoning Brooklyn rap star Pop Smoke.
But the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have killed thousands of U.S soldiers.
