Las Vegas, NV

Usher took a time-out during his Las Vegas residency to give Queen Latifah her flowers — literally.

The New Jersey rap legend attended Usher’s concert at the Dolby Live at Park MGM on March 18, which also happened to be her 53rd birthday.

Latifah received a birthday gift in front of thousands of fans as the Confessions crooner made his way into the audience and gave her a hug, as seen in a video posted on his Instagram Stories.

The Native Tongues member could be seen holding a bouquet of roses as her 1993 hit “U.N.I.T.Y.” played throughout the venue’s speakers. The audience cheered the embrace, with Latifah thanking the crowd for their warm reception.

Queen Latifah has been receiving a lot of love lately. In February, Juelz Santana took to Instagram to let fans know how excited he was to meet the Queen and re-enact one of his favorite movie scenes of hers.

“Who U Calling A ….. Honored To Meet The 1 N Only @queenlatifah not only that I got to re N act 1 of my fav seance from my favorite movie with her WOW,” he wrote next to a photo of them together. “If U Know U Know… LEGENDARY Couldn’t Let Her Leave Without A Pic #ICFMF #WeInMotion #BackOutSide.”

It’s unclear which scene Juelz was referring to as Queen Latifah has one of the most extensive movie résumés in Hip Hop. One of her most popular roles was the character Cleopatra “Cleo” Simmons from the classic 1996 film Set It Off, in which she went out with a bang in a shootout with police.

Last November, Lizzocredited Queen Latifah with being a major inspiration and influence when she was growing up.

In an interview with Nardwuar, the Special songstress explained how Latifah was one of the first female artists she saw as a child that empowered her to love herself due to how fearlessly she conquered multiple industries from film to television as a full-figured woman.

“Queen Latifah is like the first person that I saw in media that looked like me — I mean, literally to the point people where people were like, ‘You look like Queen Latifah,’ when I was a kid,” Lizzo said. “It was very important to see someone like her be a mogul, rapper, singer, actress, TV host, clothing line, all of it. Look how beautiful she is.”
